Do you mean you think Cook's people may have used the Gronk news as a way to increase their leverage with the Saints?

That's right around what I figured.

I thought 2 for 17 with 10 guaranteed.
If its only the 1 year 8 mil that's a fair price.

The saints couldn't bluff cause of the position they put thems2lves in

No, i'm not convinced Gronk is done yet. I think he may be putting pressure on the Pats, knowing there are no backup options available.

I'm sure they are being their normal stingy selves in relation to his contract.

keep seeing this but why hasn't he signed yet? Are they still working out minor details almost a week later?

Cause he’s leveraging against us with the Pats for more money. Lol if people think it’s coincidental that he put off signing and Gronk retires during that period

He’s can saying I’ll play for either team, who is going to pay me in years & gtd money?

Got it

Yeah I figure after 9 years Gronk probably figures he doesn't need another training camp and is happy to let the offseason go by and then suddenly decide to play again around week one of preseason.

He heard he was ranked 15th in your TE rankings. Leveraging his way up the list.

Funny PFF has him 3rd in 2018. But some think he is 15....makes me wonder if these fans are just trolling. They aren't even close to being in the realm o reality of things.

Cook's agent would be doing his client a disservice by not leveraging Gronk's retirement to get his guy more money, whether it's here or NE. Pats have already lost out on a few WRs and now Gronk. They have the money to play ball and there are no good TEs left

What's going on then bunchie?

Like with Max Unger, its likely the Pats knew before yesterday that Gronk was retiring.

You either have a deal or you don't. The timing with the Gronk stuff is too fishy

contract negotiations with Quinn/Dolphins could be just as likely. Both have some pretty hefty cap implications and need to be worked accordingly.

Salary cap manipulation.

The #1 thing Cook said was that he wanted to win a championship. Now obviously the Pats are always more likely to win one, but he chose us over them already. I'm sure everyone knew that Gronk was retiring.

Its just a matter of structure that's going on right now, and Cook is letting them see if they can add to the team and allowing them to do whatever cap manipulation they need to do, as long as he gets the same guaranteed money, bonuses, and years.

I could be wrong but that's the impression I get.

when has it ever taken this long to sign someone? We are always against the cap. You dont offer him a contract without knowing that you can manipulate it.

We have no problem fitting him in.

There might be an issue with fitting Quinn and him in unless there is some salary cap trickeration.
