Is this even possible? Have you had success? If so what is your secret?

Amazon: Thermacell

Turn it on 10-15 minutes before going out and you won't get touched. They also some the resemble tiki torches.

Mosquito systems, citnronella candles or the mosquito traps are options, but it's hard to beat OFF.

I don't seem to have any trouble, despite the mosquitoes.

Thermacell definitely works. Refills are a tad expensive, though.

I bought one lantern and 2 of the torches.

I haven't taken the torches out of the box yet. The lantern has been enough while on my back patio (17x17). We use a torch at my in laws and 1 has been enough for roughly the same area. Works very well. Just have to remember to change out the strip as directed.

Once the summer warms up and the kids get their playset we plan on buying, I will set up a torch on either side of the set.

Toss some chlorine tablets into the standing water around your house.

What Does the surrounding property look like? If you are in the middle of a swamp, Little will help. My buddy got a backpack fogger and misting a chimical that kills them for 3 weeks. He has a lot of large plants around the pool and it has been very effective

Fans that move lots of air are great too. I’m no biologist but from what I know listening to old people talk, mosquitoes can’t fly in >10mph wind

I have several of the thermacells and they work! If you start getting bit then it means the bottle is empty inside it or the scent pad needs to be changed. I can’t live without my thermocells!

Another mosquito tip - fans! Keep the air moving and you won’t have as many problems with mosquitos.

Spray Talstar or Bifen around your yard, keep grass cut, fire up the thermacell, and get rid of standing water

I tried the Spartan tubes and they didn’t seem to help at all. I use thermacells for hunting so I will get some for the patio.

We pay our pest control to spray. It is very effective. They do it monthly in season. Right about week 3,the skeeters start coming out just in time for bug man to come back out again.

Nobody around us sprays, just us, and it is still very effective.

Buy a backpack mist blower. Mix once ounce of talstar per gallon of water. Spray inside of the foliage of all your trees and shrubs.

I spray Permethrin SFR every 3 weeks in my yard and also around the foundation and porches. Kills them and keeps them away for about 3-4 weeks unless we get a lot of rain. It also kills many other bugs and no more ant piles. 1 oz/ 1 Gallon of water.
