So did the principals/teachers get paid for the period of time the aftercare was open prior to them getting raises?

It would appear they did according to the audit report.
quote:

Prior to the start of the aftercare program for the 2016-2017 academic year, the two principals received salary increases effective July 2016 related to after-hour duties required to maintain the school’s extracurricular and curriculum-related activities totaling $16,269 for the Secondary Principal and $22,173 for the Elementary Principal.

They clearly didn’t feel like this was sufficient compensation. Look, I obviously don’t know the specifics of what was promised behind closed doors. But I do know that creating an LLC and awarding themselves a no-bid contract to end-around LSU HR is not a defensible course of action. The fact that others were involved doesn’t make them innocent.. it makes them co-conspirators.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but...it looks like they got raise 1 and are told that is for the extracurricular stuff (aka Aftercare) then get raise 2, then open up an LLC for more $$?

The way the audit report reads is:

July 2016 - principals receive raises ($16k and $22k) to run the aftercare program.

October 2016 - principals request an additional $15k to run the program, but request is denied by HR.

August 2017 - principals are given the additional $15k for the 2017-2018 school year, but no retroactive increase for 2016-2017. Principals create their own LLC to redirect money from the university, in order to withhold the money they feel they are owed.

No, don't think you are talking about the same thing. This is a little boy that was local here in BR.

I'm not referencing the Covington boys. There was an incident over the past month involving students that spilled over onto a FB fight amongst parents and others that was detailed in a thread here. I think it was deleted on both FB and here.

Just saw this on WAFB last night (sorry if Germans). Why would a Governor get involved in this matter?

quote:

The Louisiana Voice online publication first reported on June 8, quoting a source, that the governor allegedly contacted LSU and asked that the two principals not be fired.

quote:

“The Governor did not direct that any action be taken with any personnel at University (Lab),” said Christina Stephens. “Instead, he only requested that a full and fair investigation of the complaints be conducted. The Governor is confident that is being done.”

I said it earlier in this thread. The principals at Uhigh know something about somebody and that knowledge is protecting their jobs. Probably some influential donors kid got caught with weed or pills and they covered it up.

They had to be told to conduct a full and fair investigation by the governor?

He is confident only now that he instructed them to do so?

Almost like the governor believes in segregation.

That may explain it but on the other hand (as another poster eluded to), he must have not agreed with the findings of the Legislative Auditor or had a lack of confidence in their process?

Still seems a bit strange to me to make a call (or calls) asking for "a full and fair investigation" after the auditor presented their findings.
