They probably should be dealing with middle school bullying. I was sick when I heard what happened.

The Legislative Auditors report looks like they were given a raise for “extracurricular activities” oversight then went back to LSU for more $$ for the aftercare and LSU said no. They then opened up their own LLC and the parents were paying UHigh for aftercare. Looks like some folks at LSU got ticked and LSU did their own audit and found issues.

Audit Report

It starts on page 7.

Does this have to do with the recent tragedy?

Is the school part of LSU? Under its administration?

A lot of people were sick about that situation. That story had me depressed all weekend. Feel so horrible for that poor family.

For those that don’t know, a 12 yo boy committed suicide from UHigh last week. Way too young to have been in such a dark place. So incredibly sad.

Does anyone know what the bullying was about?

Absolutely terrible. I couldn’t imagine losing a son that young.

What’s the problem with the daycare? Peoples kids were watched in exchange for money and everyone got paid what they were owed. Nobody stole anything.

This is the bigger deal IMO. Using the facility and faculty to generate money on an asset and operation that belongs to taxpayers. That part is jacked up.

People invest their own real dollars into daycare operations to generate profit. This example is theft, plain and simple. They absolutely stole, and I’m offended.

But it is so convenient that the kids aftercare is at the school.

Parents don’t have to haul kids somewhere after school or worse, let them be at home unsupervised getting into god knows what kind of trouble.

These people were only thinking of the students and their parents. Bless them.

Bro, I get it. school plus a daycare... these are everywhere.

The problem is that the money is generated off assets and operations that belong to the taxpayers. They were collecting the money in their business accounts from resources that didn’t belong to them. That’s theft.

Oh

It just looked like they were taking a reasonable administrative fee then giving the rest to the school.

This would have let them get paid in a timely fashion and saved the school from having to cut checks.

I admit not knowing the details, but using the school’s operating costs and assets to generate personal wealth is stealing. It could be less severe with details, but I believe it was stated that customer/parent credit card revenue went to their business accounts. That tells that they controlled the revenue stream and not just some management fee.

Ii don’t know man, unless they personally funded and signed personal guarantees on liabilities for capital costs and salaries/opex, etc, to me it’s theft.

The annual trip to DC is Not a school sponsored, nor mandatory trip. Parents pay for the trip and insurance through the travel agency. The Administrator gives his personal time to help give that experience. Whatever travel agency gives him shouldn’t be a school issue?

Another reason government jobs are stupid.

This is the same as using your American Airline miles on one of their vacation packages. No big deal. People need to get away sometimes.

Pretty clear troll job, but there are many Fortune 500 companies that don’t even allow personal use of airline miles accrued on company business.

Also I wonder if the travel agency in question could be running afoul of bribery laws? My company acts like you’re going to jail if you give a government employee a Christmas card.

Yeh if it’s not school sponsored or mandatory I don’t really care about the travel agency kickbacks. That’s life and that’s business influence. Personally think it’s a tad unethical and in bad taste to not negotiate a better for the school group travel at the sacrifice for taking the personal kickbacks. It’s classless, but not the end of the world.
