How well do these fields drain? My kids are supposed to be playing in the Red Stick tournament there this weekend and figured some of yall who live there would know. We got rained out 3 tournaments in the fall and hoping this one can go on.

They don't.

It can drizzle for like 5 minutes in BR and there will still be a lake in front of the goals two days later.

If you spill your water bottle they send an alert that the fields are closed. Since 2010 when they hosted regionals they’ve protected the fields more, especially the back fields which may be a good thing so they don’t end up like Indy.

The fields don’t drain well. At all.

And if there’s like a half-inch of rain they shut the complex down for high school games. For club tournaments, they might give a little more leeway, but not much. BREC maintains the fields, not BRSC, so they can be very protective.

It’s a double edged sword there. Because when it is dry, they are like concrete.

We will be down there too for the tourney, at least it looks like the storms may not come until late Saturday night into Sunday so at least we may get in most of the games.

Soccer fields in the south east being built in swamps. Anybody see a correlation here?

Spring games (and practices, for that matter) are a joke for many developmental leagues.

I was playing on that when it first opened, the amount of games we had canceled/moved over 3-4 years was ridiculous.

They're hosting regionals again this summer so I'm sure they're going to err on the side of caution for this local tournament. Thanks for all the responses.

Looks like there are a good number of teams in some divisions.

We’re going to the Perdido Shootout, but with only 4 teams in my sons bracket it can get to where you play the same team twice on Sunday, with the first being pointless. That sucks.

That's the same for us in Red Stick, only 4 teams in the U13 boys division. We were originally going to do a tourney in Longview this month, but they changed the rules of that one to non competitive teams so we are going to BR now.

We have 6 in the U16 boys, and at least 3 are pretty good teams. Hopefully we get to play Sunday.

FC Dallas.

We aren't very good though

The 08 boys team is going too, but I think it's the B squad. They A team goes to the U90 tourneys and such. They did some Vegas invitational tourney last month.

We tried it out in the fall but didn't have a good experience so we're back with SU now. Hopefully, it was just growing pains and Phil can get things lined out.

Ya there's been a lot of typical first year issues. Are y'all boys, girls, or both? I know the girls side of things has been an absolute dumpster fire.

We are probably done after this season though. Hes burned out and wants to just kick the football in middle school next year and play basketball. My wallet is inclined to agree.

Yeah I can definitely understand then. Hopefully they'll get it all in order soon because Shreveport/Bossier really needs both clubs (and BOCA) to succeed to improve the quality of play and competition. Plus I know some parents that are so frustrated with Cabosa they'll go anywhere to find a club for their kids to play

My U13 boy is excited about kicking in middle school too. He’s been at it forever, and he’ll finally get his shot. He’s a bit ragged in form, but he likes it so hopefully he’ll clean it up.

Hopefully he smashes some free kicks this weekend.

That's pretty damn impressive sir

We got a lot of work to do ourselves but one of the kids on our team dad kicked for Tech and briefly for the Seahawks and he's going to be working with him on getting his form down.

Good luck this weekend!
