with both at 11. Kentucky has 48. This is really hard to believe because everyone knows we are not a basketball school.

We were for a while.

And the SEC isn’t really a basketball league either.

Well I think those numbers just further prove that Kentucky is the only "basketball school" in the SEC.

LSU was first school with 10 SEC titles in all 3 major sports. LSU was a decent basketball school at one point, you must be 18-22 years old.

ETA: I'm assuming you think LSU is a football school. Go look to see how many SEC titles football has [hint it's equal to basketball].

And that's with Tenn. winning the SEC last season.

Only Florida (5) and UK have more Final Four appearances than LSU

LSU has a great basketball tradition and in the 80's/early 90's the basketball program was every bit as popular as the football program, probably more. Unfortunately, nearly 30 years of inconsistency has gotten LSU to where it is today.

Wade was absolutely right when he said there was no reason LSU couldn't be what Florida was under Donovan. Hopefully he is the guy to make that happen

True, but football has been ranked every year since 2000. Basketball hasn't been ranked much at all since 2000 compared to football. On the national stage, everyone knows that LSU is a football school and good/great at baseball also. Basketball is not. Let's hope WW brings consistency to LSU.

Imagine the crowd for the Tennessee game being that way every game. The place was called the Deaf Dome for a reason. There was a huge decibel meter hanging from the rafters that measured the crowd noise in real time. The PMAC was rocking when I was a kid and it was a blast to go watch a game no matter who we were playing. We can get back to that again if Wade can turn this thing into a consistent winner and if he continues to bring in exciting players. Everyone likes a winner, but going to see Chris Jackson and Shaq type players play was a big part of it as well.

LSU was a basketball school far before it was a football school. You need to do some research on the school man. No offense, you just are showing your age.

I am only 31 and remember the tail end of how big of basketball school it was. LSU was not a football school for a VERY long time. They had 2 SEC titles from 1971-2000 [only 3 from 1962-2000, that's averaging basically 1 every 13 years].

Crap I still to this day say when the basketball team is good, it's best sporting event on campus and it isn't even close.

It just shows how the SEC is not deep with successful basketball programs. It’s Kentucky and then everyone else

LSU was the first SEC school other than Kentucky to go to the Final Four. (Even though at that time it only took two wins in the tourney to make the Final Four, our conference brethren had the same opportunity. In fact,LSU made a second Final Four before another SEC school,Georgia, made a Final Four.)

After seeding was introduced in the NCAA tournament in 1979, LSU was the first SEC team to be seeded # in consecutive years.

This is sarcasm right? Other than a couple of seasons with Petit and Pete, LSU’s only sustained success was during the 80s for the most part.

A little tougher these days compared to the Shaq days @ LSU. The one and done rule has made maintaining a good to great program much tougher. Does anyone really believe shaq type players would have stayed more than 1 year back in the day? If wade can put this cloud behind him with the ncaa and get LSU to the NCAA at least 3 or 4 years in a row then top kids will start to come to LSU. Al be it probably only one year. I have to admit it has been fun watching the tigers and college basketball again when the tigers have a shot. Lets hope this year is the beginning of something great.

I think this is more about the sec being terrible at basketball outside of Kentucky and short runs by Florida and Arkansas. LSU is not “historically good” at hoops, the SEC is just “historically bad” at hoops.(except Kentucky)

There’s a definite opportunity for LSU to rise up and fill the void.

So do you consider LSU a “basketball school”? What would you consider LSU?

You like to talk about your age & others peoples a lot lol
