True, and theyve been pitching on the same mounds for the last 5 months straight before this weekend. Easy to see how it may have thrown them off.
Also the freshmen struggling is easy to understand in their first tough road environment.

They could have played at LSU, Yankee Stadium, or the field next to my house and UT would have swept us! Our pitching was HORRIBLE! Our hitting was HORRIBLE!
Our team is nowhere close right now. It’s disappointing and frustrating to see our team unprepared in the beginning of EVERY P M season.

They hit more than 2 batters over the course the series. The other poster was right, they walked 21. They talked about the 25+ free passes more than once during the game today.

They hit 4 or 5 batters.

ETA: You're probably right. I forgot about the 3 balks LSU was called for.

Texas also has a true shutdown Friday night ace. We don’t. We have some depth, a lot of good pitchers who are going to get better but no true go to stud.

Our pitchers need to stop walking 20 fuking batters in the first 2 games.

Most of the Texas players were bigger.

So what? Their strike zone should have been bigger?

2. I agree with the OP about at bats for LSU. Very few of our guys approach it like UT does. And I think we should consider it.

Ut is taught to work counts and be patient hitters. Some of it is because it's hard to hit homers in Disch Falk. They work a lot on small ball and burning up the other teams pitching.

Lsu meanwhile hacks away at anything. Lsu needs more patience at the plate so the other teams pitching has to work harder.

Sad but true, we aren't in the same zip code as the short horns at the moment, we have a lot to work on, throwing strikes is for sure one thing, and then be able to hit good pitching which we didn't do all weekend.

Texas’ approach worked because our pitching sucked. If you’re looking for an approach to beat bad pitching patience at the plate will work just fine.

Seems to me that this LSU baseball team has a LONG way to go this season to be Champions. VERY long.

You clearly do not know anything about a pitchers mound. It literally takes warm up pitches to get use to a mound. Maybe an inning depending on if the dirt is not packed enough where your plant foot is. Tough road environment... yea maybe. But that’s it.

Teams typically play worse on the road

Statistically that's true in basketball, and to a lesser extent in football, but not in baseball. The MLB winning % for baseball teams playing at home is barely over 50%.

Are you special?

Jesus Christ, i hope you don't go home and make excuses for your son like this. "It's okay bobby, those darn mounds were a little different than what we are used to."

It's baseball, they are all played on the same fields. Its the same distance from home to first and the same distance from the rubber to the plate. You don't walk 21 batters in 18 innings because your playing on the road boss.

Our pitching was the culprit but if we are being honest we didn’t look like a team. You can see the talent. Pitchers looked unprepared. The double play should have ended the last game with a victory but the players didn’t look good turning it. I like our coaches and am not calling for their heads but they have responsibility in this series as well in not getting team prepared and in not reviewing bad reviewable calls that were game changers.

I agree, made a thread about this exact issue after the Sunday loss. You have to put a lot of blame on the coaching staff. This team did not show up in Austin ready to play.

It doesn't matter how much talent you have, if you do not show up ready to play and dialed in, anyone can and will beat you.

Texas drug their nuts across our faces all weekend.

Hopefully the Tigers use this past weekend to lite a fire under them.
