He was the qualifying party for the liquor license. There has to be a formal revocation Of the license and a temporary suspension period before the new qualifying party can formally obtain a license subject to review. It’s essentially the same as applying for a new liquor license with board review and background checks.

So there is no way to bridge the two to prevent a restaurant from losing its license?

I worked at Sammy's when I was in college (06-07), and this was peak Sammy's.

Back when you got two chicken breasts on the salads and 6 cheese logs instead of 5? Damn Shame.

Sammy opened a new restaurant (Creole Cabana) with some partners. The place has good food but rarely gets any customers.

They spent a fortune building the place.

Perhaps its anchoring his other ventures

it's a shame too because the food is actually quite good.

I refuse George's because of their stupid payment process. You order food then wait then when food is ready it is on counter where everyone else is nearby or standing over ordering and you have to pay then.

Food is sitting on counter with people breathing on it and it getting cold and you are waiting to pay with credit card. It is beyond stupid. Take payment when I order.

Chimes, Willie's, Roux 61, Jones Creek Cafe, On the Halfshell(Pville).

As for crawfish, Willies is better anyhoots.

what a terribly antiquated and antibusiness policy

The information about the license in Steve Bonfanti’s name is inaccurate. Sammy’s did not renew their license for 2019 as they were unable to do so due to having unpaid taxes. Once they get their taxes paid (which they have already collected from the customer) they will be eligible to renew the license.

They do a lot of private events there and the volleyball league during week nights is pretty popular as well. I've never been a big fan of their food though but others enjoy it

You start this thread saying "I heard a rumor". It sounds like you have all the facts. You working for the competition?

My guess is when Steve B got sick a lot of things went south there. I know he was big on quality when it came the food Sammy’s put out. Knew him well and he would send back sacks of crawfish for being too small or seafood for not being quality. Likewise, he made sure the kitchen put out a quality product. Doubt anyone followed up these things in the same way after he got sick.

It sucks. Sammy's was a really good place at one point. Amazing they would let that cash cow go to crap.

Yep and if you go in there and bitch about Sammy you're sure to get your meal on the house from Smokey

Sounds like you get your food before you pay, so you can probably get your meal on the house regardless.

Well Sammy was the manager at George’s under the overpass prior to opening his first place and Smokey always complained he funded it. However Smokey should have parked his Harley and paid attention.

What was the redheads name that Sammy married? She was a waitress at George’s.

And Steve Bonfanti owned the real estate of the other locations (not Highland) I don’t think he had stock in the actual restaurant. He watched the food at Highlamd because he lived down the street in Woodstone and was always in it and liked doing that.

It was a rumor when I started the thread. However I didn’t just rely on the OT to investigate.....
