Predictions are generally that none of the options to maintain the Church as one are going to pass the vote, and the UMC is about to split up.
Yup, and when it does I know our little church here in the mountains will be on the side that does not try to conform to the whims of man.
I really don't understand why some many people are so hellbent on trying to change the UMC. If it's that important to you, go to Presbyterian Church USA and leave us the hell alone.

Satan is attacking the Church and is using the banner of love and tolerance to do it. It’s most effective against those who haven’t been taught about God’s righteous anger and His law and only His love and grace. It’s why a focus on the complete Word of God is so important.

We may differ on some things but there are things that all Christians should agree on, and rejecting sin should be one of them. If we tolerate sin, we offend God.
There's the rub right there. The progressives aren't just trying to get the UMC to TOLERATE the sin of homosexual acts, they want the church to ENDORSE and CELEBRATE them.
That's where I have a huge problem with them. They don't want their sin called a sin. There's not another group out there doing this. There's not a collective of people stealing from their jobs trying to have the church change the Ten Commandments to suit their feelings.
The people pushing this are more concerned about human feelings than for making disciples of Jesus, which is our great commandment from Jesus himself.
"Go and make disciples of all nations."
The people pushing this stuff are really horrible people, because they are not leading their followers TO God. They are actually leading their followers AWAY from God. Woe unto them.

Precisely. The PCUSA and Episcopal Church have been killed by their own hand in the name of societal tolerance and acceptance. It’s the best way to kill the Christian Church.
There is a reason why the mandates of the Bible are not popular is a society that values relativism over edict.
On the contrary, the PCA is one of the fastest growing denominations on earth. Why? It values the literal translation of the Bible.
The PCA, and other similar denominations, are and will continue to be attacked from within. I don’t think the biggest threat to them is currently from within though.
I see a progressive run government with the power of “thought police” being the primary threat. We see this as a challenge in China currently. We will see it in the US soon.
“Hate speech” laws will eventually jail ministers and members of congregations. Churches will have to go underground to avoid government persecution.

^This. after going down the rabbit hole about this, there's no way to not split the church at this point.

Acceptance of sin, and the celebration thereof, has absolutely killed the Episcopal Church. That’s undeniable.

The conference voted against the one church plan 436 no to 386 yes.

What is it that you seem to find funny, ma'am?

So that's "good" for traditional or conservative churches, correct?
Posted on 2/25/19 at 6:36 pm to MSUmtowndawg
That’s a good result but what is bad is how many voted “yes”.
Posted on 2/25/19 at 7:03 pm to SSpaniel
Yeah that’s good. I think, think, that it doesn’t mean that tomorrow they will vote to officially accept the traditional plan. But the discipline will stay the same if they don’t so it’s ok. They will be voting on amendments and I don’t know what all that entails.

False teachings are Satan’s most effective way of leading Christians down a path of ruination. It’s very easy for a man in a pulpit to get and grow a congregation preaching a false Gospel based on the tolerance and acceptance of sin. If you’re part of a Church that avoids addressing sin from a biblical stance get out .....run away!

Acceptance of sin
That’s where the whole argument comes from. One side believes it’s a sin just like all other sins. The LGTB side believes God created them that way.
I personally vote on the traditional side, but I struggle in the fact that we all sin and not a one of us, clergy included, are without sin. Even when we repent, when do we actually rid our lives of sin? Never.
All that being said, I just don’t see how you can go against scripture in this decision.

We are all sinners. We all need a savior. Just because you are a professing Christian...a truly repentant person...doesn’t mean you won’t sin. One of the craziest things is that the more sin abounds, the more grace abounds for Christians.
That said, by definition, these gay individuals seeking to be ministers and hold gay marriages are not repenting sinners. They want you to accept them in spite of their unwillingness to repent.
I’m not aware of a church you can join with acknowledging your sin and need to repent.
I’ve heard the arguments for non-practicing homosexual clergy. I’m not even sure what that means. Sins of the heart are not different than sins of commission.
These people don’t see this as sin, period.
The church should be a refuge for repentant sinners, gays included. A minister addicted to porn, that cheats, etc., should likewise be removed from the ministry. Sin is sin is sin.
It’s not a hard concept in view of the scripture.

I've been following the gc all day. Almost every time I see a minister on Twitter, etc. make some bold proclamation about how unity and inclusiveness is the path forward and all others are hateful, their timeline is filled with 95% identity politics garbage.
If you're a minister and most of your platform is used to bemoan privilege and divide on the basis of race/sex/etc., I can't help but question your sincerity in the faith. For the record I do the same for ministers who use their TV airtime to promote the President or whatever.

One of our pastors updated us and said essentially that the traditional plan passed with enough votes to move forward for final consideration (along with 2 other plans), all of which would allow churches who can’t abide by the “new” rules to be able to leave with their property. The OCP failed to move forward, so it’s off the table. The Africans weren’t haven’t any of that.
