Angela Guillory and other LSU admins suspended over DKE allegations

Well this is interesting. Guillory is generally regarded as the most anti fraternity person at LSU but she is currently suspended for failing to investigate allegations made against DKE months ago. WTH?
Oh the irony if she loses her job because of the very people she was targeting.

LSU placed multiple administrators connected to Greek life on leave Friday, a month after the university quietly parted ways with another top-level administrator amid hazing allegations at LSU’s chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon that have now led to arrests. Kurt Keppler, who had been a top LSU administrator since 2010, left his job as vice president for student affairs around a month ago, in the same week that LSU announced that its Delta Kappa Epsilon chapter was closing because of allegations of hazing. On Friday, after The Advocate repeatedly requested interviews with Greek Life Director Angela Guillory, LSU President F. King Alexander released a statement saying administrators had been placed on leave over the DKE incident.
Alexander’s statement did not name the administrators. But several sources connected to Greek life — including a current fraternity member and multiple alumni who have been briefed on the incident — told The Advocate late Friday that Guillory had been placed on leave, along with Dean of Students Mari Fuentes-Martin and Assistant Greek Life Director Donald Abels. The sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information, said the university was exploring allegations that Guillory, Fuentes-Martin and Abels may have been told about problems at DKE and failed to investigate.
Alexander’s statement seemed to back that up.
“Today, we received an allegation regarding the reaction of some administrators after hearing a rumor regarding the DKE chapter, and they have been placed on leave while we investigate this situation,” the statement said.
Oh the irony if she loses her job because of the very people she was targeting.

Let's be crystal clear here: the blame for this sordid episode rests decidedly with F. King Alexander, who does not have the first clue about how to hire a decent administrative team at LSU. Incompetent administrator after incompetent administrator has been hired at LSU, and as the "leader" at LSU the buck stops with Alexander. The poor track record of administrative hiring provides strong evidence that there is a systematic problem at the very top at LSU.
Case in point: Mari Fuentes-Martin came from a campus with no Greek system, and it was pointed out numerous times during the search process that hiring someone who had no experience with a Greek system to run student affairs at a university with a large Greek system was a serious mistake. Everyone with an ounce of brains knew that this was a potential disaster in the making, and we have seen major problems in the Greek system under Alexander's watch.
This follows a general pattern of administrative incompetence in the hiring of LSU administrators. Had LSU hired a President who had even a smidgen of a clue about how to run a major research university with a large Greek system and high-powered sports programs, we would not be facing case after case of administrative incompetence. That LSU continues to face these problems speaks volumes about the lack of quality leadership at the top. LSU needs a change in leadership if it is going to avoid these (and other) problems in the future.

If true, charge them all with hazing for failure to report. The administrators should be held to the same standard as the students.

Your post is reflective of all things governmental or political in Louisiana. Incompetence at the top.

bullshite. The administrators should most definitely be held to a higher standard than students. They are adults in a professional capacity who are being paid by the university. But I agree that the administrators should be held accountable.

It’s not a BS job- at a university like LSU. But hiring someone with no experience is pretty hard to get ones head around.
Wonder when the BoR will finally figure out FKA is a turd as a president and dump him?
