Two names to quickly emerge in league circles as likely targets in the Pelicans’ GM search — albeit two candidates who have both been selective in the extreme in considering offers — are former Cavs and Suns GM David Griffin and longtime Celtics executive Mike Zarren

Stein has legit connections within the Pels.

Was Griffin the one to give Shumpert, JR, and Tristan Thompson those massive contracts ?

Hard pass on Griffin. Zarren sounds intriguing.

Maybe Gayle wants to unite with Griffin in a He-Man-LeBron-Hater's-Club.

I will say I’ve listened to a LOT of David Griffin on Sirius XM radio, and lately he’s been one of the few that truly understand the Pels position.

Like others have said, it’s really hard to judge him off the Cavs tenure as we all know Lebron got anything he wanted there in an effort to keep him happy.

shite, the dudes gone to the Lakers and blown up that locker room in half a season...the friggin Lakers...now imagine how much influence he’d have on the Cavs.

My choice would be Zarren. Harvard law grad. Clerked for a federal appellate judge. Worked his way up in the Celtics organization mastering analytics. Don't think it would have any detrimental impact on a potential Celtics/Pelicans trade as, ultimately, the guy isn't going to do the Celtics any favors since it's his legacy on the line if installed as head of the Pels. He'll go with the best offer available.
