You do realize that 24 games into the season Will has taken a program that equated to a dumpster fire for almost a decade and turned it into one of the most successful programs in the SEC. To this point in time, I have found what he has done in under two years to be pretty dang amazing.

If he continues to produce in this manner for the rest of the season, I have no problem with him receiving a significant pay raise and an extension.

Outside of Calipari, the salaries are bunched up fairly close. With a $500,000 raise Wade could be the third highest paid coach in the conference. For $700,000 he could be tied for second. So, yes, he likely deserves a raise and a contract extension, but any salary inequities are relatively minor.

The point is to keep Wade. His ceiling is higher than everybody on that list outside of Calipari. The raise goes along with an extension.

We've seen in football (and now basketball) what a huge difference the right coach can make. Wade's attention to detail will make him the next great college coach. Its the same trait that Nick Saban and Bill Belechick have.

If only we took this same approach in regards to our football coach. I’m sure you’ll agree it’s appropriate there as well, right?

Nikki Caldwell is grossly overpaid and Alleva just gave her a contract extension.

Who do you think is worth more to LSU, her or Will Wade?

I've never been to an LSU women's basketball game or watched one on TV. I don't care if they fold the program. I also don't care what the coach is paid, as it's irrelevant to me (and this thread).

My point exactly. We should've cut her loose when we had the chance.

I get the point here, but if we make the tournament this year and next year and don't give him a good raise, he's not going to wait around for 2 more years after that

I’m not saying he shouldn’t get a raise, but before throwing a blank check at him, there should be some measure of sustained success, not just a part of a year.

Raise his salary to 3 million. Focus on facility upgrades, and getting a new arena.

Normally, I’d be in complete agreement with you. However, this isn’t football or baseball . This job doesn’t come with the inherent advantages that those jobs offer and we need to be proactive with Wade. It’s not even about salary at this point. It’s about commitment to upgrading facilities which goes beyond Wade anyway.

I would argue that based on the circumstances G.O.A.T Wade had as successful a season last year, in his first year, as he has this year.

Last year he came in here and led the "preseason last placed SEC Team" 2 win team to 8 wins, a 10th place finish, and a postseason win (first since 2014). That is a massive massive improvement.

So this isn't a "part of a year" thing. He has taken this program from SEC doormat to SEC contender in less than 2 full years. Both seasons have been extremely successful given the circumstances IMO. If we are constantly giving Nikki Caldwell extensions, then we can actually give extensions to a coach who has had massive success so far in Coach Wade. It is almost impossible to not see that he will continue having big time success here.

He obviously should get a big raise if we win the West or 2 games in the tourney I don't understand your post.

You are right. LSU has been a SEC doormat for the better part of the last decade. The change has been remarkable and earns compensation by the AD. Give the man what he wants.

Same fricking people all for Eaux getting extensions and raises saying wait...stunning turn of events

IDAF what skip or anyone says, if you believe Wade is the guy to lead the program and he’s having success then you treat him fairly and show him he’s wanted.

Your reading comprehension problems are your own issue. I can't help that.

I specifically said he deserves a raise and a contract extension. My point is that his current compensation is not significantly out of where it needs to be.

Also there are no conference divisions in basketball. There is no "west".

This literally didn't happen. Don't clutter up a basketball thread with some of your toxic football talk. This is a positive thread.
