Has this many senators from one party ever ran for President before?

And we're possibly not done yet with Bernie Sanders and Sherrod Brown possibly announcing soon.
It's ridiculous but then again it shows you hard up for star talent democrats were left with after MAGA stole HER TURN away from Hillary.

Yes but they were varied in their professions as some of them were senators, some of them were Governors, some of them were businessmen, and a doctor.

I agree but I think obama was merely the litmus test to see what worked and resonated and what didn't.
Don't see a lot of these democratic hopefuls talking about the economy and foreign policy.
I suspect the entirety of the primary debates will focus on climate change and social issues.

It feels very similar, and I think you’ll see the same thing. They’re terrible candidates and they’ll get exposed by someone who actually has some political talent, like Trump. I don’t know who that would be, but there will be someone in that crowded field who actually knows what they’re doing.

History isnt exactly on their side either. In the entirety of US history, only 3 sitting US Senators have moved to the White House: Harding, Kennedy, and Obama. Thats it. Now, 16 have served in the Senate and later moved in, but only 3 straight from the Senate.

In a primary this crowded, he'll have a lane to pull it off. He's got that lefty populism down, which isn't enough if it was a small field but just might be a strong enough base to slip through as the rest of them split the more progressive groups up.

Is there a possibility we could see a democrat version of the 2008 and 2012 GOP primaries that were full of terrible candidates that were just each flavor of the month with the establishment finally securing the nomination for their preferred candidate in the end?

These people have massive egos, and no sense of introspection. Booker is a good example of that.

I tend to agree. I like sherrod brown, but I dont think he moves the meter with in the party, ufortunately.

Sherrod brown would make Ohio a hell of a lot more difficult than it needs to be. He scares me on that front already being the senator there.
Trump did lose Ohio to kasich in the primaries and was fortunate enough to run against Hillary for the general.
Hopefully democrats are too batshit crazy to nominate Brown.

Pretty sure only 4....Cruz, Paul, Graham, Rubio. There were more governors in that race than senators.
