Which Baton Rouge-area bridge crossing option is the best?

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) highlighted some potential options for a new Baton Rouge bridge Tuesday in front of a new committee that’s trying to end the area’s traffic nightmare.
It all happened in the first meeting of the Capital Area Road and Bridge District, created by Sen. Rick Ward, R-Port Allen, to find out-of-the-box funding solutions for a new bridge.
“We have all known for some time that it’s beyond the point of necessity,” Ward said. “It’s almost a crisis situation that we get something done.”
On Tuesday, Feb. 5, DOTD planning experts presented portions of 2016 research that recommended a new bridge connecting to LA 30 south of Baton Rouge. That proposal calls for a suspension bridge similar to the Audubon Bridge in St. Francisville, although that could be amended to a standard truss bridge.
I think Option 5 or Option 1....with a great place for a new airport on the Baton Rouge side of the river around Plaquemine Point.

Whichever legitimately directs traffic around Baton Rouge.
If it doesn't, don't waste the money.

Tunnel under the Mississippi, one that would make houma envious.
I'd go with green and red, like Christmas up in this bitch.

Guess someone needs some study money.
I give it 4 months before the parishes get in a bitch fit about who is going to pay for it.

Whichever one is the beginning of the loop.

A bridge is great for local traffic, but can we make it part of a greater loop or bypass of 10? All of the trucks traveling to I-12 will still be going on 10 and stalling on the bridge.

Plaquemines...and run the approaches from Grosse Tete and Port Vincent

as long as it's not in my backyard and I don't have to pay for it! I don't care.

What happens when they build this new bridge and traffic still sucks?

We'll have an alternative route when tie ups occur on one of the 3 crossings.
The new bridge won't eliminate the need to widen I-10, which is in the works.

The one that benefits the politicians the most and makes the least sense. Look at the Audubon bridge.

Green or red are good for me.
Plaquemine is pretty damn far between the current bridge at Port Allen and the Sunshine Bridge at Donaldsonville. That seems like a good place to put it.

If it does not connect I10 to I12 it is pointless. All truck traffic goes from 10 to 12. A bridge south of BR is dumb.

It would help with the traffic passing through BR headed down I-10 East but it will do nothing for the traffic for those passing through to I-12. It's a start. I'll be retired by the time it gets built though.

Imagine how many millions were spent to draw these lines on that map
