It kinda depends on what percentage of the whole middle class had those results. There could be many, many reasons for that having nothing to do with the tax cu
and I would imagine your state taxes hugely impacts this. Trump stopped state taxes getting shelter on federal ones. So if you’re in a high tax zone, you didn’t feel those local taxes as much in your federal returns. Trump closed that loophole.

These people are stupid. They should look at their tax liability for the year, not how much they owe or get back after filing. I guarantee their tax liability went down this year compared to last year.

And did these folks look at how much less they paid in taxes? I paid $1300 less in taxes over the course of the year. My return was only $300 less. Net gain: $1000.

They may not be getting the return they want, but may have paid less in taxes over the course of the yr.

This is accurate. Most people weren't aware the tax cuts were coming to them (W-2 employees) in reduced withholding (even though they should have seen their paycheck increase).

Must live upper east coast or California.

Those states were deducting their state property tax from their federal tax.

That was ended in Trumps tax code. IOW those guys are now getting to pay their fair share.

I voted for President Trump and will do so again in 2020. I am married with 2 kids, an E7 in the Army and wife is a school teacher. We normally get around $3,500 - $4,000 back every year, but am only getting $450 back this year. So I don't believe these quotes are to far off base. I haven't compared my take home between 2017 and 2018, but I bet I took home more this past year and what I am missing on the return this year would most likely even out with the take home last year.

Look at your w-2 from last year and look at how much you paid in Federal income tax, and then do the same for your w-2 this year. You undoubtedly paid less in taxes this year, than you did last year.

Those tweets, or whatever the hell they are called, are straight up horseshite. I just did taxes last week, our income rose but just slightly, all our dependents were unchanged and I got back a little over a thousand bucks more than last year, in which I just about broke even.

There is some lying going on in the Twitter world and color me not surprised

That is what I was saying.
Wife does the taxes so I haven't really looked at the W-2, but I bet I paid less in withholdings last year.

This is either a bot attack or really stupid people. By the way if you have over $24k as a family of itemized deductions you are probably not middle class.

Same here. My greedy arse was a little disappointed. Lol. Standard deduction double but only a little over a grand more?

nearly all of those sobs stories are from states Trump won't win any way. Couples making 150K and whining.

Maybe they should leave the high tax liberal bastions of NY and CA since now the feds aren't subsidizing their ridiculously high local taxes by not having a limit on SALT deductions.

A middle class tax cut should unequivocally go to the middle class
