The game is “scheduled” to kick off at 3:30pm in California. Wouldn’t you think they’d go for an 8pm Eastern Kick? 5pm seems like the best time for the Pacific Coast.

6:30pm seems like the best time for the Atlantic Coast

An 8:00 start time means the game would end, at the earliest, close to midnight.

The networks don't give much of a shite about the west coast when it comes to live events.

Most of the population is east of the Mississippi.

No, because then the game will end at 1am eastern time.

Brees did choke like a bitch on that first down slant to Thomas.

Career defining miss.

The Super Bowl has kicked off at 6:25 ET every year since 1996.

The lead-out program after the game ends is a big deal for the network. The game has to kick off early enough for the show to start while people are still watching in the eastern time zone.

It’s a Sunday. 3:30 on the West Coast is fine.

8:00 on the East Coast with people working Monday would lose a lot of viewers.
