WMC News
Fayette county line is only about 400yds from my house and Hardeman is next to Fayette. Both are on the MS state line.

Three more cases of chronic wasting disease have been found in Mississippi deer, bringing the total to nine.
The Clarion Ledger reports the state Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Wildlife Bureau says one confirmed case was in Benton County and two were in Marshall County.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency announced Wednesday that the total number of confirmed disease cases in Fayette and Hardeman counties, which border Mississippi, has risen to 91

Gonna be some changes.
Yup, can not imagine that supplemental feeding will be allowed in 19-20 season. Sounds good to me, I will save hundreds of dollars from not buying feeders and feed

My co worker that I go hunt his place sent me some more pics today if some suspect deer. I had posted one a while back that he sent but I don’t know if that one is one of these 3. He showed them to the MS green jeans and they want him to shoot and bring them In for testing. This is in Poplarvill...
They look bad.
He said he has never seen buzzards just sitting around on a plot following them around.

I hunted Benton the last 2 seasons. I will not be hunting there next year, but not totally because of CWD. I live outside of the zone, so transport of even a quartered deer is illegal now.
I will be back on public ground next year over in Panola and Tunica.

What can be done to stop the spread? How does limiting the transport of dead meat help?
Other than killing live deer with symptoms I cant think of anything else

Man how much time you got?

That first one just looks like a future cull. The last two look sunken and sick. Ugh

Man, that would not be good. That’s on the opposite side of the state as the confirmed cases.
We have property in Poplarville and haven’t seen any suspect deer yet.

My place is a few miles south of hwy 26 and I don’t have any slickly looking deer out of the close to 20 animals I have on camera.

TN is having the big problem. I think they’re up to 91. All in the West.

That’s probably how it’s going to go in a lot of areas. Those 91 didn’t just get it...we just started to check.
So still no sign in the pig population?
Yea that sucks in poplarvill if those pics price to be some infected deer. I’m going back next weekend to hunt. They haven’t been seeing many deer move in the area tho and the weather so far looks shitty but I’ll be out there looking.

That’s correct. But that is in two counties.
And I’ve seen studies (although a few years ago) that Fayette has the largest deer population in the state.

Mississippi will have all supplemental feeding and baiting stopped by May/June is what I'm hearing from green jeans friends around Jackson. From listening to them it will be state wide and permanent again. Fall "food plot" only areas. No spring and summer plots. Have to be tilled under by last day of December cant plant before first day of Sept with approval tag. reason for tilling under is deer will want to concentrate heavier in January on with less natural forage thus more contact. They will have to be a certain size, pre-approved locations, and ag service will be testing certain ones in certain areas for prion concentrations. Its gonna be a big deal when they roll it out. They are putting those policies together with education consultants now.
