FSU, Memphis and Houston all won yesterday so NET could go up for us some today. That's all our opponents that we've played who were active on Sunday.

We moved up to 15 with Sunday's game taken into account now:

Boy, wish we could have that Houston game again. Oh well, the loss is not a bad one BC they’re legit.

Actually, I’m pretty sure that is how it works. I think margin of victory is part of the NET ranking.

You’re getting downvoted by a bunch of people who don’t know how NET rankings work. Efficiency and margin of victory are both part of the rankings. So playing inefficiently in a nail biter against a much lower rated team will absolutely hurt a team’s rankings.

In reality, it was a great gutcheck win that will help us feel like we’re never out of a game for the rest of the season. But as far as NET was concerned, it was a bad game for us.

Actually it is. Wade addressed that in a presser earlier this year

I didn't get to watch the entire game, but being down like that was mostly due to poor shooting all night, right?

Right. And Giest for Mizzou was making circus shots and other players for Mizzou were contributing more than normal. LSU caught them at a bad time but pulled it out anyway.

If they played us in the P-Mac next week we't beat them by 20.

some interesting notes

lsu's bpi has climbed a long way. now at 30 just behind fla and state. bpi has been by far the worst metric for lsu

still a huge disparity regarding lsu's s.o.s. bpi has lsu at 63. realtime has lsu at 23. same for seed predictions. lsu anywhere from a 2 to a 6.

incidentally, lsu is ahead of houston in realtime and warrennolan.

lsu is 2nd in the sec at realtime and warrennolan, same record as uk but a better s.o.s.

You have to put fsu in there to. Lsu could very easily be a 1 loss team. Had double digit leads in second half in two of our 3 losses....

Though if we dont have those losses in begining of the year I dont think we are the team we are right now.

Margin of victory matters, but not how that margin of victory came about, if that makes sense...in other words, we beat Missouri by six, a six point victory is the same wether you led the whole time or made a comeback like we did. I don't think overtime matters either.

Also, it's been said on here before, but the margin of victory is capped at ten points.. Meaning, that it's the same thing ,beating a team by ten, or by 110.

The ten point margin of victory is important to get.. Thats why I don't understand how some coach's don't try for it more often. You got a team up 9 with the ball, there just standing there dribbling the clock out.. They need to talk to there teams and fans about this, make sure that people realize the situation ,so that it's not looked at as bad sportsmanship..

Think about the bubble teams, it could come down to margin of victory in a single game that decides whether or not they make the tournament.

Also, the reason we dropped after the Missouri game, had nothing to do with this though,in fact, it had nothing to do with our game period. There were a couple games in which a team did something impressive enough to jump us..there are no humans involved in the net rankings, so the term " struggling with" doesn't exist unless the scoreboard reflects it.

Overtime wins only count as 1 point wins in the formula I believe
