Does anyone have a family get together for Groundhogs Day like a mini Thanksgiving? Just heard several of my friends and their families do it and had no idea it was a thing. They were shocked I never heard of this and still think I’m trolling when I say I have no idea what they are talking about.

Well they would think I was trolling too. That sounds ridiculous honestly.

Yeah we always get together for GHD. Usually do something like an outdoors cookout, music, etc

Nothing major but we do a get together. 99% of the time it’s only the family that’s local (no out of towners) and it’s a simple family brunch. Playful picking of sides before our boy Phil shows up. Every 2/3 years we watch the movie for giggles

We always get together for Groundhog Day. My fam has brunch and we have a money pool for bets on Phil. Last year my sister lost and we haven’t talked since.

I make a meatloaf shaped like a groundhog every year. Look forward to the yearly thread I put out on Feb 2

Sounds like fun. Big problem is the group in Punxsutawney does their reveal first thing in the morning in the Eastern time zone. It's a Kegs and Eggs event if you're going to do it.
