Well... It's official

City Prosecutor Andy Dotson has been tapped to serve as the temporary parish attorney while the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council contemplates a permanent replacement for Lea Anne Batson

week. Dotson, who has worked in the city prosecutor’s office since December 2009, received a unanimous thumbs up from the council Wednesday night. No details were discussed on how long Dotson will serve as interim parish attorney or when and how the council intends to permanently replace Batson
quote:
Batson made her exit on the eve of a public hearing the Metro Council had been scheduled to hold Wednesday night to consider firing her at the urging of Councilman LaMont Cole. Dotson’s appointment wasn’t a shock.
quote:
Council members Erika Green, Tara Wicker and Scott Wilson had intended to hold a special meeting on Friday to appoint Dotson following Batson’s resignation. But at Wednesday night's meeting, the council supported Green’s desire to handle the appointment then and there.
quote:
Immediately following the vote, Dotson thanked the Metro Council for its vote of confidence. “We’ll do everything we can to keep the office where it needs to be,” he told council members.

First off it's interim.
Secondly, Dotson is a great guy.

Lol
He happened to be at the courthouse when I went for a speed ticket.. he was an unorganized dick- not surprised.
That interim will become permanent pretty soon

Nobody said he isn't. Many have came on here and said Baston was a great person. Still doesn't change the politicking going on within the metro counsel

Congratulations BRLA on taking the next step to becoming Detroit.

He was Lea Ann’s pick as well and he is qualified. I get the “not surprising “ comments but he’s a straight shooter as well. Let’s say it could have been a lot worse and not what Cole was looking for.

Secondly, Dotson is a great guy.

Dude has grey hair but not a single wrinkle around his eyes.

Bunk Moreland isn't qualified for this position.

Good
If he's a good guy and he's well qualified, let's make it permanent.
But somehow it won't never works that way. Someone will want their BIL, their friend or someone else's friend to get the job.

I made a little bet with myself before clicking this thread, and guess what...I won!!

Clearly they wanted a Black from the beginning, when they couldn’t get a black woman they settled for a black man. I’m heavily invested in ebr and down town BR and it’s time to clean house before these arse hats ruin everything for everyone. We have a few minorities that half don’t even own their homes making decisions for real stakeholders all bc they can get the numbers out at voting time and they out number us
