A viewpoint I've heard about the refs no call.

To start with I find this disgusting if true.
Edit: c'mon people, read what I wrote. Not once did I say I support this line of thinking, nor do I think this is what actually happened. I am only posting an alternate possibility of what the ref thought, even though I doubt that is the case.
But I've heard, and I believe it could have been possible, that the refs chose not to call the flag. But not for some conspiracy (which I believe to be the real case). In general refs are extremely lenient in the final 2 minutes, especially with booth review on all plays. But in the refs head they very well could have thought, "the PI wasnt that bad, and if i call this the game is over. Then it will be my fault for keeping a team out of the superbowl... and the saints are probably going to win anyway.".

No. They had Rams ML +145. They are out celebrating.

So you’re saying that they choose to enforce rules when they want to? Sounds like a fireable offense. Pretty sure the rule book doesn’t say “but don’t worry about it in the last 2 minutes of a game”.

I agree, but you never know what they were thinking...
Posted on 1/21/19 at 6:06 am to lsuhunt555
You're right, and every ref within 20yds of that play should never ref a game of football ever again.

What a stupid angle. That call was so blatant, the only thing he could have done that would have been worse, is if he would have gotten on too of MLL and beat the shite out of him.

Why don’t the refs just leave the field in the last 2 minutes?
Posted on 1/21/19 at 6:09 am to DeafJam73
You never know, you really dont want to the guy to end a game with a bad call. But its alot worse to be the guys that dont end a game by not calling a bad hit...

frick they did last night..
Posted on 1/21/19 at 6:11 am to Lahurricane08
How? How can you possibly defend them?
Posted on 1/21/19 at 6:12 am to DeafJam73
I didnt defend them? I repeatedly said how bullshite that was. REPEATEDLY...

That call was so blatant and obvious man. After that Ted Ginn catch I just knew for sure that it was our game.
You HAVE to call that shite. It’s the NFC championship game with under 2 minutes to go. Saints in the Red Zone. I usually don’t care for blaming refs, if we lose or get our arse whipped then so be it. But if that penalty is called we ice the game. Period

I 100% agree. Depending on how long the runs take, after 3 runs and a rams TO their would be between 4-15 seconds on the clock ready for basically a walk off fg...

This phony media talking point makes my head explode!!! It does not matter what sporting event it is. Show me the “2 minute rule book.” A foul in the first 58 minutes is a foul in the last 2 minutes.

Another spin doctor. They are legion.

Right. If it's a 50/50 call with some subjectivity to it they might keep the flags in their pockets. On something this obvious to everyone there is no justification.

Not that bad? Only thing left was for the Ram's CB was to assault TommyLee with a weapon

That assumes that either the timing or the contact were even within a stones throw of being called borderline. Both were waaaaaaay outside the norm.

But you can pick a flag up. Stop it with this bs.
