I think it's just the fact that Luther and junior have the same "oo" sound as coon and with King in the middle it's really not that crazy of a mix up.

That’s what I said the last time this happened, but damn it seems like it’s happening more and more.

Why do you think she would have said it on purpose though?

Probably people have been thinking hard trying not to do it sinc it's happened before. It's in their subconscious.

Why the frick do these people keep using the word coon???

I haven't listened to the video for this one, but the first one it sounded like he said "Martin Luther Kung Jr" pronouncing it "koong" mixing up King and Junior. Done it a couple of times myself. Mixing up words happens

I absolutely do not believe these were racially motivated. Nobody in their right mind would do that knowing it could result in losing their jobs and possibly ruining their careers.

They read about the weatherman and it becomes imprinted in their mind - "Man, I don't want to do that." This makes the slip up more likely.

Nobody says it on purpose on TV either unless they want to be unemployed.

You might be right, but is it any more believable that she’d intentionally torpedo her career? white people don’t even use that word in private to refer to black people.

I’ll be mad at this when black professors who call for the murder of white people face repercussions.

“You know what I’m going to do today? I’m going to get on TV and say something offensive and get myself fired. Yeah, this is going to be a good day.”

So she’s either such a massive racist that she can’t even think of MLK without thinking of the word coon or out of every word in the world she happened to slip up with the one that’s racist against black people
