If this turns out to be true, and Michael Cohen testifies to this, and with his taping and record keeping history, can corroborate then Trump is a world of trouble. This OoJ allegation would be a crime and probably an impeachable offense. For years, Trumps bizarre relationship with Russia is probably the epi-center of him either being voted out of office or impeached.

I think it has more to do with reports coming out that the Mueller report is going to be a dud. This way, Schiff can claim that Mueller wasn't allowed to complete a full investigation and that only the HIC can really get to the bottom of this.

This is absolutely not true. In fact, several major news outlets have already come out this morning saying that they were not able to confirm any portion of the Buzzfeed story. This is the Dossier all over again. The Dossier was shopped around to numerous reporters, all the major outlets passed on it and eventually Buzzfeed ran with it.
