But yet Arkansas, maybe the worse team in the SEC, was able to put 30 on them. And LSU has not been ready to play a number of games both this year and last. Getting shutout in Baton Rouge with two weeks to get ready is embarrassing for LSU.

If not in the playoffs, bowls games are almost meaningless.

Why do so few people seem to know the word dominant?

Sean Payton could have been the OC against the Gumps and it would not have mattered. That game was lost in the previous 2 to 3 years of O-line recruiting.

Agreed.

That being said, Emsminger underperformed as an OC imho. Schematically, we weren't very creative. FWIW, I like Emsminger. However, to me, he does seem to have deficiencies schematically. Just my .02

You seem to be missing the point. The guy made the case that Orgeron always has them ready. You pointing out that he once had them ready does not prove that he always has them ready.

The guy you responded to pretty much disproved the proposition, though.

I agree with this. The only game that matters now is the CFP and this has been promoted by the media as such. Funny how many of them whine about the lack of importance being given to the bowl games when they have created this mess.

Sort of like March Madness has become.

Why was this viewed as such an unattainable feat? Have we sunk to the level of beating a team with equal talent and resources at home as a monumental upset? I get that it was a biggest win in 2018, but I not about to storm the field.

Miles used to have one game every year that he won when he wasn't expected to win. The problem was he lost 1 or 2 games a year that he shouldn't have.

The loss to Troy was much more eye opening than the Georgia win.

Yes, it is. But then again, Alabama had 41 pts at the half on Arkansas. They had 16 on LSU, and that includes a TD with 1 minute left. That's going to command a whole different level of focus from their defense.

And let's also not forget Alabama also had 2 weeks to prepare for us. I think Saban can come up with more wrinkles than O can.

Wasn't the OP about motivating players to play in their game, regardless of what game it was? Wasn't it citing Worley calling out UGA players to play the Sugar Bowl as if their lives depended on it?

Seems to me that Greedy skipping the Fiesta is a lot more comparable, than whether LSU was able to score on #1 during the regular season. We were motivated to beat Alabama, we just couldn't do it. A key member of our defense was not motivated to even stay with the team for bowl season.

We weren't good enough for that to be the most important game of the year. MIGOY was prob Auburn or Georgia.

And that has to change. I agree. I’m not ready to concede that we’re just not as good and accept a loss year after year anymore than you or anyone. All I’m saying is that the 29-0 loss, while frustrating, wasn’t due to lack of effort. We were ready to play—we just sucked.

Please Payton is one of the brightest offensive minds in football. He would not be shutout in that game.

Just playing devil's advocate but we barely beat a garbage Arkansas team this year, which happened to be right after the Bama game.
