The big question to me is how have these two programs outpaced all other CFB programs?

Recruiting, but not in the way most people think.

Most people will say they just get a bunch of five stars and build all-star teams. That’s really not true. They don’t get substantially more elite players than the other really good programs.

The difference is who they fill the roster out with. Most other top programs grab 5-10 four stars and fill out the class with 3s and 2s. Alabama and Clemson consistently get 15-20 four stars and only need a couple more average players after that. Just look at their rosters. They usually don’t have many more elite players than anyone else, but they have really good players for days. Their four stars are matching up with everyone else’s three stars and dominating at all levels, offense and defense.

That’s the difference IMO.

Oh so Ohio State's recent natty was bullshite b/c they relied on a committee to stick them in?

Nope, but it is bullshite that only 4/5 power conferences were represented.

2017 is a better representation anyway.

According to most LSU fans, 9-3 and a NY6 bowl does suck.

My wife cares.

Don’t you find it a little peculiar that ESPN has to write an article (not a 15 second ad mind you) to tell us why this is worth watching?

Don’t you think, if they were that concerned, they would have some media blitz - including 15 second ads, talking heads, etc. - and not a single article buried by NFL headlines?

Maybe they are concerned about Bama/Clemson fatigue. But even if they aren’t, it’s their job to promote probably the biggest sporting event they show on a yearly basis. So I’m not surprised that they’re identifying a potential issue some may have and trying to pacify them.

Less than 24 hours after the matchup was determined? No, not really.

Ask me again on Friday after all we’ve heard all week from the talking heads is how we need to be excited about this game.

They’d be committing some sort of broadcast malpractice if they don’t identify these issues and try to quell them.

They relied on a committee to get in. If it's BS for Bama it's 100% BS for a team that got fricked the frick up by a 6-6 VT.

think it's funny they acknowledge what they've done to the sport. This is what happens when you just promote one or two teams all year long. Mix in the WWE element and CFB is going down hill fast in terms of product. I still love the sport, but I watch it less and less. Didn't watch the CFB playoff again this year.

If the Fiesta Bowl takes a WWE turn like the aTm game did, I'll quit watching that too.

This is the only matchup that would be worth a watch though. Alabama slaughters anyone else. At least Clemson has a legit chance to make it close and win.

GTFO. I don’t know a single person who’s excited about this other than fans of the two teams, and most of them wish they were playing someone else.

Bama fan and I’m not excited about Clemson.

I honestly think this could be a stepping stone to 8 team playoff. Everyone is tired of both teams.

With those kinds of comments in the article, maybe they can have Tony Schivone doing play by play attempting to blow smoke up everyone’s arse about how it is the greatest night in the history of the sport.

I didn't imply anything, and I didn't say anything about Bama.
