Serious question, but how do so many people have 200-300K in debt by early 30s?
Are you calculating your mortgage debt without taking into consideration the value of your home?
For example, if you still owe 300K on your home but it is worth 500K if you sold it today, that is 200K in the positive, not negative 300K.
Or are these medical student loans?

Wife's med school & my MBA + balance owed on our mortgage against all of our savings, investment accounts, and value of our home. In essence, I guess we are more like -$130,000. Forgot home value earlier.
