Jared Cook is a FA I would like to price check

Walter Football Draft Prospects

2.) Irv Smith Jr. - Alabama TE
6-4
245
Projected 4.59 40
Projected 1st-3rd Round

Smith has been excellent this season as a mismatch weapon for Alabama. He is a shifty route-runner with quickness down the seam, good hands, and the size to be dangerous after the catch. This season, Smith has caught 35 passes for 613 yards and five touchdowns. Smith has upside to grow as he gains more playing experience. His father was a first-round pick out of Notre Dame by the Saints in the 1993 NFL Draft. Irv Smith Jr.'s uncle, Edward Smith, also played tight end in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, so he has a NFL pedigree that could help him to assimilate to the pro game.

Walter actually thinks this is a decent year to draft TEs based on his writeups on at least the first 5

I’m sure it will be an open competition. Arnold has a chance to be damn good if he matures. Hill is Payton’s boy, but his ceiling is low. Hooman will never be the man.

I’d expect another bargain basement deal like Watson next year.

We have drafted 1 TE since SP has been here. Jimmy Graham.

That's it.

He doesnt like drafting TEs for whatever reason.

It won't happen because they're a divisional rival but I'd like to trade a 2020 pick for Cameron Brate from the Bucs. He put up some good numbers when he was their starting TE.

Cook is a superstar in the right system. Would love to have him without a price gouge.

He's always found talent at tight end late that's why. Tight end might be the one position where the payoff will almost never be right away, whether you're the best prospect or not.

I'll be content with a sturdy guy who can give me 500-600 yards a year. Is that asking for too much?

If they want to keep Brate, offer then something in 2020 for OJ Howard. They need so much more than an above-average TE combo.

I feel like Delanie Walker is the natural fit for us. Yes he is older, but very durable and a solid tight end. I think he would be good at a cheap price for us.

Didn’t his leg snap in half Week 1?

If his rehab is going well and his price is reasonable I would be okay with this if we don’t draft someone like Irv or Caleb Wilson

Kaden Smith*, TE, Stanford
Height: 6-5. Weight: 250.
Projected 40 Time: 4.77.
Projected Round (2019): 2-4.
12/1/18: Smith has totaled 47 receptions for 635 yards and two touchdowns this season.

8/28/18: Under Jim Harbaugh and David Shaw, the Cardinal has been a factory for NFL tight ends. Most of them are quality blockers with the ability to contribute as receivers. In 2017, Smith caught 23 passes for 414 yards with five touchdowns. Folowing Dalton Schultz's departure for the NFL, Smith could see more playing time and receiving opportunities.

This is the guy I've had my eye on. Big body, competent blocker and he makes some athletic catches.

Any word on why Maxx hasnt worked out in Baltimore? I wouldnt mind the signing and he would certainly come cheap.

Hard to stomach giving up a pick for a guy who was on our practice squad. Wish we would've promoted him.

2019 looks to be a good but not great year for drafting TEs. Not sure there is a can’t miss guy, but the class is deep overall at that position.

But...we don’t have many picks in 2019. And TEs usually take at least two to three years to turn the corner.

I haven’t paid attention, but how was Ricky Seals-Jones in Arizona this year? Converted big bodied WR might fit in well here if he can run routes and catch.
