My sister in law got us one for Christmas. I’ve set them up before at my parents and a cousins house but never had one of my own. Now that I set it up what are the best things I can do with it? Other than allow Jeff Bezos unfiltered access to my life of course

Congratulations on surrendering your privacy and allowing yourself to be surveilled.

I bought one for my lesbian coworker. When she tells me what they do with it, I’ll bump your thread. But if I had to guess, they’re gonna use it for scissoring.

Coolest and most useful would be to return it to Amazon and exchange for something else.

Congrats. Now you can speak directly to the NSA instead of them having to look you up.

It’s almost 2019, in today’s age, I’ve surrendered to this fact already, no use fighting the inevitable

Or you could just not have devices in your house that listen and record you 24/7

How many people bitching about privacy in this thread also have a phone within arms reach at all times? You know there’s a microphone on your phone, right? And a camera.

So stupid.

We have a few smart plugs to control various things plus I’ve added one smart switch. Also use it a lot to play music.

One cool thing I figured out is you can set routines. When I drive up, our Christmas lights turn on and it starts playing Christmas music.

Is this Alexa?

I enjoy the question of the day and it plays my Spotify playlist so that's cool.

Amazon is probably the worst one you could give access to your life. They are all up in it as far as privacy invasion goes.

Wrong...I used duct tape and put it on the bumper of some car with out-of-state license plates. I'm not having them track me anymore.

You mean a music speaker that spies on convos.

I just tell it my terrorism plans.

If you get some smart plugs, you can act all cool and smug that you can turn on the lights without flipping a switch even though it's nothing new.
