Do they not have a phone?

When I get home from work, my phone gets place on the charging base in my pantry. My son and grandkids can call me in my shop or in my home though the Echo.

Just purchased two Dots for my grand kid's room. They call me at night to say good night and they listen to audible books before going to bed. There are also spelling and math games they can play.

At home, it controls my thermostat and my stove vent fan located in my attic. I use the timers for cooking, alarm for waking up and listen to KPEL news in the morning while getting ready for work.

And items to my shopping list though I purchase fresh groceries from Walmart. Play my music playlists or my wife's playlist.

In my shop, my Dot plays my music and soon will be able to voice control my dust collector without searching for the damn remote. Wife can also tell me my sammich is ready. I can ask it to convert inches to mm. Add items to my shop reorder list.

Or maybe, just maybe, don’t do illegal shite...

Re-assuring yourself that you have nothing to worry about because you aren’t doing anything illegal doesn’t address the potential review of you (and your guests’s) privately voiced thoughts by anyone now, or in the future, who presumes to be justified in judging your thoughts and pays the man for your data.

Roseanne Barr wasn’t doing anything illegal when she tweeted her Planet of the Apes comment. The young man who just won the Heisman made a comment when he was a juvenile that now threatens his earnings potential as an adult. Employers review applicants Facebook postings already.

They should have known better than to post things on public social media, right?

Did you read the usage of agreement of your Echo? Even if it offers adequate privacy protection, do you think Facebook’s numerous “accidental, unforeseen breeches” to their privacy assurances might be worth a skeptical second glance?

Will you scrupulously read all the subsequent updates to policy as the software is “updated" ?

Smart money is that you have committed to be on social media 24/7 from now on.

Don’t disagree at all with that.

But you are already being monitored...

We got one from a Christmas party but I probably will never actually use it. Not a fan of something always listening to me.

Put one in your bedroom. Download the Alexa app and “drop in” on the device and listen to the neighbor frick your wife.

This is how someone I know busted his wife cheating.

If it's colder than a whiches tit outside, I can tell it to start my truck so it will be nice and warm by the time I get inside it.

How many people bitching about privacy in this thread also have a phone within arms reach at all times? You know there’s a microphone on your phone, right? And a camera.

And you don’t think the microphone is still active after you turn off the screen you’re sadly mistaken hahahahaha.

Oh, I believe it stays on.

For instance, I was on a project installing a particular model of Cisco switches. My Facebook feed started showing advertisements for that particular model of switches from Cisco for weeks. Including my desktop PC at home which I don't use for work, period.
