Has anybody here ever experienced tire lugs on so tight they can't be removed with an impact wrench? I took my truck yesterday for new tires, and they could not get one of my old ones off because the lugs were on too tight.

My buddy has the same issue with his factory f150 wheels and lugs. Always a pain to get them off.

Had one stuck lug nut out of six on my Tundra. Got out the cheater bar and now I have five

Yep. I'm having the problem right now.

And for the cheater bar... yes something gave. The cheap arse aluminum coating around the lug gave. I then had to chisel that bastard off and try again.

PB Blaster or Kroil helps, let it soak overnight if you can. That laminated 2-part design is crap, my F150 never had them and uses style with an integral washer. If you break the stud it's not a big deal, whole package of them is cheap enough and not hard to replace. If it was me I'd replace all of the lug nuts with new ones that aren't laminated.

Happens on my buddy's F150. I use a 3/8 impact on lug nuts, because I don't want to snap them with my 1/2" one. The 3/8 can't get some of them, so we just use a breaker bar and jack handle

The dealership (Hixson) changed all of mine for free on last oil change. Apparently it’s a common issue with the aluminum shroud around them stripping because of over tightening

I got so frustrated with those damn lugs that once i finally got all of them off I installed aftermarket replacements.

Doesn’t help now, but a little axle grease on the studs before you put the lugs back on will help keep them from seizing.

I have 2015 and 2017 fleet F150's with swelling lug issue.
The lugs are $12 each.
Periodically we had to change a few here and a few there when the employees would bring them in for tire rotations or new tires.

YES! Ford lugs are very soft and strip easy where a lug wrench will no longer work. I had to get all mine replaced last year.

This. And Ford ain't the only manufacturer that utilizes them. Had a flat on Mama BFIV's T & C van and ONE lug was on there so tight that a cheater bar stripped that laminate off and I had to drill the stud out to get it off. Lug nut was down in a wheel recess and I couldn't chisel it out without destroying the wheel. It was a real PITA.
