Nacho was a great center and the most decorated of all the LSU lineman. Wilkerson was also a stud in college. Mawae was mainly a tackle guard at LSU but a HoF career in pro’s. My dark horse here is Will Clapp. All SEC at guard and center as well as team captain. All great Tigers

Pocic was a 6-7” center that even a 6-4” nt could leverage and projectile him backwards.
Why he never played even right tackle was so dumbfounding.
ETA. Wilkerson should have never been in that Vanderbilt game when he got hurt.
Take your starters out when the game is in hand! Especially your lineament that have knee issues.

Ignacio nacho albergamo. End of discussion

Very serious. You think some of the choices for post season honors are puzzling now? Back then most voters might have seen LSU play once. I watched Albergamo play dozens of games. His teammate, Andolsek, was the real deal. The difference between those guys, playing side by side, was striking. Wilkerson was at Andolsek’s level, Nacho was not.
I’m telling you what I saw with my own eyes, but if you would prefer the opinion of a bunch of girly sportswriters, go ahead.

Dan Alexander, and yes I know he didn't play center at LSU but he is one of the best centers to ever play at LSU.

Wilkerson with Nacho nipping at his heels.

We agree here.

Over some anonymous guy on a sports forum whose honesty or credentials I have no clue about? Probably
Also, being an old fart myself, I may have a different opinion. But my credentials a pretty suspect, even if you know who I am.

Pocic plays guard for Seattle, always thought he was too tall at C and was easily leveraged.

I really like these questions, but often when selecting the "best LSU (whatever)", we are understandably swayed by what they ended up doing in the pros. For example, Tom Hodson was the best quarterback I've seen at LSU, but if you asked who is the best LSU QB, I might say Bert or YA Tittle because of their pro careers.
So, while Mawae's bust is going to reside in Canton very soon, Wilkerson had the better career as a center at LSU.

Mawae for me. He is pretty much a hall of fame level nfl center

Agree. I thought Wilkerson was the best during his college years and felt like injury prevented a long NFL career. He could turn a defender like nobody else. The others on this list were dang good, though. Hodsen is probably my favorite QB but probably not the best. Really loved his grit. I remember the "lithen to me" game. His tongue was almost split in two and he could barely talk but finished the game. Players couldn't understand what he was saying in the huddle.

Nacho. That OL group was very good.

Dennis Gaubatz and then Ruffin Rodridue Sr. #51

Max Fugler might be the best I ever saw play - outstanding on offense and defense.

Mawae started more games at tackle then he did at Center while at LSU. Not even sure why he's on this list. OP prob didnt know that

There were some plays where he was sent backwards in a quick-like fashion.
