If you were standing on the northernmost point of Brazil, you would be closer to Canada than you would be to the Southernmost point of Brazil.

I saw this on Twitter so take it for what it’s worth but apparently percentages are like inversely true or palendromic or something?

8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8, etc.
You're multiplying the same two numbers and then dividing by 100. Of course they're the same. This is the commutative property of multiplication that we all learned in elementary school.

I measured on google maps. Northernmost point of Brazil is ~2,665 miles to the Southern tip of Nova Scotia, while Brazil is just over 2,700 north to south.

A lot of people think she was beheaded by her husband Henry VIII but she actually had her head cut off by a Popeye's employee after an altercation over some red beans and rice.

[quote]If you circle the world with a rope near its equator, and then try and circle the world with a rope one inch off its surface at the equator....the difference between those ropes is only like six inches in length.[/quote

Wikipedia list the circumference as measured around the Equator as 24,901.461 miles.

I drew a 24,000 mile circle which is 126,720,000,000 feet to represent an approximate circumference of the earth. Offset it on inch, then checked the circumference of that circle. It was 126,720,000,000'-6 5/16".

I expected a lot more. I am not sure if I am surprised, impressed or feeling disappointed.

DMX is the only music artist in history to have his first five albums debut at #1 on the Billboard charts. His sixth album debuted at #2.

John Lennon and Dimebag Darrell were both murdered by obsessed fans on December 8.

More soldiers died at the Battle of Shiloh than the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 combined.

Three out of our first five U.S. Presidents died on July 4 (Adams, Jefferson and Monroe).

The top 5 winningest high school football teams are the only ones with 900 wins. Three out of the five are from Kentucky.

LSU and Alabama are the only 2 collegiate football programs to play against each other more than once in a Game of the Century.

Simple 2 x pi x radius … 2(1inch) x pi = 6.28 inches

It works the same for a string around a basketball or beach ball or any other small circle. Lift the string 1 inch above the surface, and the difference in length will still be 6.28 inches.
