It was great to see OLOM, St George and St Aloyisius step out into the Uhigh tournament this past weekend. Without question the most competitive middle school tourney in Baton Rouge.
All of those teams are really well coached and play hard.

Goddamn was that some tough competition in the uhigh tourney.. Aloysius played pretty good except one bad stretch in the backend of the third quarter against Hosanna which made a competitive game a blowout.. Played really well in a lose to central middle and a win over Central

They won the consolation bracket in 8th and lost in the ship in 6th.
StG always puts on a good showing at the Uhigh tournament. They are always coached right and have a plan of execution.
The competition level is something many of these kids don’t experience throughout their CSAL seasons and a good learning experience for them moving forward in the game.

Updated Rankings:

1. St. George Green (1) - The Dragons are in a class of their own right now. They are not only winning every game, but winning by double digits. They are undefeated against CSAA teams this season and looking like an all time great team.

2. St. Aloysius (3) - It feels like you could put teams 2-6 in a hat, draw names, and no order would be wrong. The Lions have had big wins recently over St. Jude, OLOM, and CHS. They lost an overtime game against SJV to advance to the St. Jude Tourney final, but also won the STM Tournament a couple weeks ago.

3. St. Jean Vianney (6) - Arguably the hottest non St. George team in the league. Their strong back court is clicking on all cylinders.

4. CHS BR (2) - The Bears have had some nice wins recently against St. Jude, St. Alphonsus, and MBS, but ran into the St. George juggernaut. They also gave up a fourth quarter lead to Aloysius. They have a big regular season matchup against SJV, before the Elite 8 kicks off on Thursday.

5. OLOM (5) - The Bluejays had a one point loss to St. Aloysius in a high scoring game. Nobody wants to see them come tourney time with a strong inside out attack.

6. St. Jude (4) - The Cougars have recent losses to CHS, St. Aloysius, and St. Jude. They play really active defense, and Will Wade loves their emphasis on defensive deflections.

7. Sacred Heart (7) - With one of the top players in the league, they will always be a tough out for anyone.

8. MBS (unr) - The bubble is very large for the 8th spot. The Pelicans had a nice victory over another bubble team in Holy Family over the weekend.

The Elite 8 Starts Tomorrow Night. First round match-ups are as follows:

St. George Green vs Sacred Heart

Our Lady of Mercy vs St. Jude

St. Aloysius vs St. Jean Vianney

Most Blessed Sacrament vs Catholic High

Should be another great tournament.

Congrats to St. George on winning the Elite 8 in emphatic fashion. They defeated St. Aloysius in championship and won every game by double digits. This 8th grade dragon squad has to go down as one of the top 10 teams of the past 30 years.

The CSAA/CSAL Elite 8 History thread has been updated.

Here are the final rankings based on Elite 8 tournament results. Preseason rankings are in parentheses:
1. St. George (1)
2. St. Aloysius (2)
3. Our Lady of Mercy (3)
4. CHS BR (4)
5. SJV (unranked)
6. St. Jude (5)
7. Sacred Heart (6)
8. MBS (8)
