So according to you It's A Wonderful Life is not a Christmas movie.
It’s more of a religious movie to me. Lots of people like to play religious around Christmas.
Same thing with a movie like family man.
These people are the same people that post stupid shite on Facebook like warning people about dihydrogen monoxide and think they are clever.

I think of it as both a Christmas movie and an action movie. Not sure why they have to be mutually exclusive.
Also, Die Hard makes me think of Christmas.

If you change die hard it won’t effect the film that much.

If you take Christmas out of NL, it changes everything about the movie. You need to have different scenes entirely because the vast majority of the film is Christmas traditions. If you change die hard it won’t effect the film that much. You are over playing this lame arse debate from 10 years ago.
All of this

Photoshop out the santa hat and ho ho ho. Scene is unchanged by much. You could probably CGI and audio edit the movie to get rid of the Christmas portions without much effort and keep the story intact. In a movie like NL, that's hard to do without making scenes have very large holes in it.

Obviously. That's why my answer is "Gremlins."
Gremlins is more of a Christmas movie than die hard.
Die Hard is a movie that takes place during a Christmas party. That does not make it a Christmas Movie.

What qualifies other movies as Christmas movies then?

Like the old Supreme Court case and obscenity, "I know it when I see it", and Die Hard is not a Christmas movie

Yeah, that would be the movie's focus on many Christmas traditions that makes it a Christmas movie. That doesn't work for Die Hard

Replace Christmas with a birthday party and all that...

Are you talking about in a Christmas Story?

I'm being intentionally sarcastic to prove a point.

I must be dense then, because I don't see a point to that post

It's cumulative. You have to take it in context of the entire thread.

A christmas story is a collection of stories, so I think you could get a decently coherent 1-2 episode TV show out of some of the stories that don't need Christmas. Film uses the theme of Christmas to tie all the stories together, so half and half Christmas maybe. TBS ruined that movie for me, so banishing it from Christmas is fine for me.
I am not talking about reshoots, but just simply editing the known footage.

Your original point changed a central plot element. Change Christmas to birthday, and what's the result? I don't care about reshoots or edits.

The result is it's still mainly about a kid wanting a bb gun, everyone telling him it's too dangerous, his cantankerous father still gives it to him, and Ralphie shoots his eye out just like everyone warned.
