Any reason why the previous facility did not process a direct admit / ER to ER transfer?

If I have to go to the ER for anything I just put on my ICE hat and shirt. Cuts the wait time down by 90%

Because they don't help

Had to go to the ER this past Tuesday.

Had severe testicular pain and a massively swollen teste. I have to give credit to Our Lady of The Lake hospital. They had me in a room and on morphine within 10min.
Then had a ultrasound done and had surgery to fix my testicular torsion within a few hours.

Overall, I was very impressed.

I had a patient spend 10 hours in the ER to be sent home and told to follow up with me without any significant intervention because they refused to pay a $25 copay.

That patient also did not follow up.

The last time I went to an ER, I went about 2 am for what turned out to be a broke collarbone. I sat there and waited for 3 hours, then ended up leaving. The hospital sent me a bill for $12 for it.

Lady on the side of me says she’s been here four hours —- no one here “looks emergent”.
It is free care.

For every actually sick or injured person who enters an ER, there are 10 other people who are there to waste everyone’s time.

i've literally had people check into the ER because their AC wasn't working.

not saying this isn't true, but it's difficult for me (as an ER RN) to comprehend this. if a brain bleed was confirmed by a CT, the smaller hospital should have arranged transportation via a private ambulance and gone right to the treatment area (not waiting room)

were you discharged and told to go by car to another hospital?

They goto the ER, wait 6 hours, then waste the doctors time just to get some ibuprofen or a pregnancy test for free so they can buy more candy crush tokens and cigarettes

Lost both of my grandparents to complications from brain bleeds. Good luck with all that.
