I mean... how can you be shocked?
You mean they actually required academic instruction?

tudents and staff at the for-profit Virginia College near the Cortana Mall were shocked with news from school chiefs Wednesday that the college was closing. And, it’s not just the Baton Rouge campus. In an email obtained by WBRZ, officials warned employees the entire Virginia College system was closing.

“...the Department of Education added requirements that made operating our schools more challenging. In addition, last night ACICS suspended our schools’ accreditation with intent to withdraw. The uncertainty of these requirements resulted in an inability to acquire additional capital to operate our schools,” Stu Reed, the CEO of Virginia College’s parent company

“It is with extreme regret that this series of recent circumstances has forced us to discontinue the operations of our schools effective with the completion of the current module or term for most students. There will also be a small group of employees to provide an orderly closure process for a short period thereafter,” Reed wrote. Employees were told to check with supervisors about when their “last day of employment” would be. All employees were told they would receive wages for time worked along with accrued but unused vacation.

They stopped admitting new students a while ago, which should have been a significant sign that this could happen.
They lost their accreditation. I guess as soon as that happened, their lending capacity was cut off.
Can they "transfer" their hours to another for-profit school????

Such a shame. A once proud institution. Started by Thomas Jefferson believe it or not. Just shows you what poor leadership will get you.

Good. For-profit colleges are terrible and should all be replaced with trade schools.

Why would someone want to attend Virginia college

All for-profit "colleges" and "universities" should be shut down.
I feel bad for the kids that get roped into attending scam universities such as this one.
Really good news that ITT and Virginia are getting shut down.

For profit colleges are ridiculously expensive.
State technical colleges and community colleges are cheap.
Why do people pay more?

Looks like University of Alabama’s going to have to find a new opponent for their 2019 football season opener.
