Have other presidents been glorified like this in their passing? I feel like it’s a bit more this time.

Yes.

It has just been a long time since Gerald Ford died.

I enjoy seeing people from both sides, from Trumps Administration to people on the left, there to pay respects. They just showed Prince Charles in the house as well as Jimmy Carter earlier

It’s becuase of Trump. Left hates Trump so much that the Bushes (who they demonized for years), are now deities to them.

When a former president dies it's a huge deal. It's nothing more than when any other former president dies. There have only been 45 of them ever. We mourn and we pay our respects when they die.

Obviously it's not as grand a spectacle as if a sitting president dies but it's still a big deal.

Well, there have been four Presidential deaths since 1994 - Nixon, Reagan, Ford, and Bush. The last one prior to Nixon was Johnson in 1973, 21 years prior.

There was a cluster of three at that time - Eisenhower in 1969, Truman in 1972, and Johnson in 1973.

Nixon's was low key at his request. He could have had the full-blown state funeral if he wanted. Reagan, Ford, and Bush are having all of the pomp and circumstance afforded to a former President. It all seems about equal to me.

Last of the WW2 combat veterans to serve as Commander in Chief.

An important part of our nation's heritage is also buried today.

God Speed Mr President.

I think it's so disrespectful to the nation, its institution, and what we as Americans represent when Michelle Obama and Hillary show almost no acknowledgement towards the current president when every single camera is on them. At least Barack was somewhat cordial but Michelle just never hides her disdain for those she doesn't like. Let your disagreements and grudges go for a day, at least publicly, and come together like all politicians preach for the commonality of America.

Seeing their icy reception to him just angers me to my core. This is a funeral, not a campaign event.

But they have to show how 'woke' they are. It's sad really. Give it a day off.... its about Bush sr. today.... not trump.
