After one of my cousins graduated from college (this was about 15 years ago) he started looking for a job. And out of all the jobs available, related to his degree (ISDS) he decides to apply for 1 job. Installing satellites for a cable service.
He gets a call that day from a guy who tells him he needs someone ASAP and that all he has to do is pay $250 for his tools. The jackass went meet with the guy, paid him $250.. In cash.. Two or three days later, after not hearing back from the guy, it was on the news that some guy was running a scam in the Baton Rouge area, in which he was advertising jobs, telling people they have the job and that they have to pay upfront to get tools..
Don't ever accept a job that makes you pay money.. The company should have the tools available for it's employees.

Getting married to the wrong person.
Not all marriages, just some of them.

A buddy of mine threw away all his friends to marry a drug addicted prostitute.

This thread reads exactly like a kige thread yet because of the OPs name, he will get downvoted into oblivion.

Worked with a guy who was on the verge of having his truck repossessed. Dude went to the casino (1st bad decision), won like $6k, then, on the way back home from the casino saw two jet skis for sale and bought them with his winnings rather than pay for his truck that he needed to tow said jet skis.

and as always, you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Tons of jobs in the oil and gas industry require people to buy their own tools

My older brother did a lot of stupid "jackass" type of stuff when we were kids. Not really stupid made up stuff for a show stuff, but just didnt think things thru.
Learned a lot of "what not to do" from him, and I think made me better in assessing a situation prior. Ha.
Thank God he survived, and the most long term damage was busting his 2 front teeth out in a game of sidewalk big-wheel chicken with a buddy.

This. My wife and I were close friends with another couple in college. They were together for a long time but were having problems before the wedding. The bride wanted to call it off but didn’t want to since everything was already planned.
Their marriaged lasted 17 days

I had a family member go the alternative medicine route with cancer treatment. They probably could have lived, but decided eating vegetables was going to save them

The decision that the Louisiana Army National Guard headquarters element would "ride out" Hurricane Katrina at Jackson Barracks (in the infamous Lower Ninth Ward for those of you unfamiliar with Jackson Barracks), instead of displacing to Carville, LA and lead relief/recovery efforts from the relative safety and dry ground that location offered.
I've dealt with stupid decisions over almost 31 years in the Army. That one takes the cake and it will take a lot to ever top it. By anybody.

Long story short... best friend was in a gang. Wanted to prove himself more to get in deeper I guess.
Wanted to invite a crew over to his house for what ever reason.
Another friend and I told him not to do it, these guys were more "about that life" than he was.
Found the next morning shot in the head execution style by his mom.
I never knew what went down, but really wished he had listened. Good dude, no father figure, just really wanted to get in.

Saw a guy in Tunica up ~$80k in roulette after hitting on a number TWICE.
Then he put it all on black and lost it.
