GM isn't a good example to try and make your point with. Their balance sheets are drenched in union costs, they accepted government bailouts that propped up bad management decisions, and their product development choices in recent years have been a head scratcher.

Remember that while the bump in steel costs have hit American manufacturers, they have enjoyed huge windfalls in taxation and duty reductions at the export level. For example, Deere just reported the second largest annual net income result in company history.

Not an American car in the Top 5. Closest is Ford Focus.

Actually it's the Ford F series pick up trucks.

Well Obamacare was about the only major piece of legislation he signed in 8 years, so a big facet of it being a lie is quite telling.

You mean GM is using the Tariffs as an excuse. They have more issues than tariffs.

Yeah, except the Japanese companies aren't having problems...The reality is that cars are not selling anymore like they used to. Pickup has been the top selling vehicle in America for 15 years. Also, ford is doing something similar as they announced they are cutting most of their car lines as well...SUVs and trucks are higher mark up and they don't have to compete with the Japs and Koreans.

GM is just wanting to use the Govt as it's scapegoat as a PR move to save face.

Didn't the Silverado outsell basically 8 or 9 model lines combined during 2018?

If you look at their product lines that have failed, or are failing, they are the sedan lines. How they haven't seen the trending to SUV/CROSSOVERS/TRUCKS is poor management.

GM was living on borrowed time from the bailout and now we are supposed to believe tariffs are the reason they are struggling? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

My favorite Obama lie! I'm President and you will never be President.
That lie was advantageous to us all.
The others tended to leave scars.

GM makes inferior products for prices that are not competitive. That's the bottom line. Let GM get to the brink of failure and then maybe they'll restructure and clean up their act and start making good cars.
