Why doesn't Aranda ever get any blame?

Just curious. He's getting paid head coach type money and has tons of talented players but our defense hasn't been great this year. Our defense couldn't make a stop at the end of regulation and then let A&M score in 7 OTs, yet you really don't see a ton of criticism. Our defense was lit up at times this year. Is it simply because we keep getting told that he's a defensive genius?

Because kids here have crush on him.
No crush on O and E.

Results don’t really matter.

Bc the fans who are the loudest are anti O and pro aranda. So they will always blame O or something else before Dave. two games in the last two seasons now that O Has put his trust in the D to get a late game stop and the D didn’t get it done. Even though the opponent had to go the whole field with not much time.

He’s got a perfect gig. Millions of dollars, No blame now, and if we went to an air raid, he’d still get no blame because his defense would be on the field more.

Yes, but in reality we played like dogshit in overtime. DBU was noticeably missing.

This is why I hope Aranda leaves this year. Lsu doesn’t deserve him. We deserve O. Just let it all burn.

Isn't the defense ranked top 25?

Held a&m to its 2nd lowest yards total
Held a&m to least amount of 1st downs all year
Scored to tie the game.
Held them to fgs in 2 of the 1st 4 ots.

EDITED TO ADD FURTHER DETAILS FOR THE DEFENSE.
Lets see the last 4 possessions before the game tying td for both offense and defense

Lsu offense

Punt- loss for offense
Punt-loss for offense
Td - win for the offense
Punt- loss for the offense

lsu defense

Negative offensive yards punt- win for the defense
Defensive td= win for lsu offense and defense
Negative offensive yards punt- win for the defense
Stopped on 4th down- win for the defense

After the complete and utter dumpster fire that our offense has been under Ensminger, you really want to point the finger of blame at Aranda and his defense??

Aranda deserves come criticism for the defensive breakdown in the final seconds of regulation, but by and large, it's the defense that kept us in the game while the offense sputtered in the 3rd and 4th quarters. If the offense had been able to convert on 3rd and short, then A&M never gets the ball back.

He’s gotten some criticism. But anyone with eyes and a cursory knowledge of football understands that he and his defense have been keeping this ship afloat. Didn’t we give up less than 300 yards in regulation?

ETA: I dont think we ended up holding them to less than 300 yards in regulation, but my point stands.

Tap the brakes - I put more of the blame for this loss on the defense than the offense, but the defense has been outstanding for significant stretches.

They needed 1 stop and just couldn't buy one. The defense played essentially 2 full games (55 to 60 snaps is a standard game, and they were out there for ~110 at last count) shorthanded in the secondary.

No - he is a defensive genius. He is probably the best assistant coach in college football. Frankly, we need more work on the offensive side than defense, however much I credit the offense to essentially making every score they needed to win the game on Saturday.

So, again - tap the brakes.

I hope Aranda leaves this offseason so we can speed up the firing of O and the rest of this god awful staff

Yeah I couldn’t possibly be the fricking dogshit offense ranked in the 100s affecting our defense. If we even had an average sec offense Arandas defensive numbers would be even better.

What were the defense's totals at the end of regulation.

Where is the defense ranked, and what were their statistics, etc. over the course of the year. Combine that with an offense that rarely allows the defense to rest and regroup? You're damned right he is a defensive genius. Do you only watch highlights? And then think to yourself, "welp, they scored, defense sucks?" Ignorant post is ignorant.

Overtime tilts the field in favor of the offense.
DBU did not show up? Of course not, they were injured and out, did you not watch the game?

College OT is a war of attrition in which ONE TINY mistake will decide the whole game.

Technically the defense got the stop, (INT), the replay crew just decided they wanted to see the game continue.

Game should have probably ended at 31-24. Sure Aranda gets blame for the defense falling apart thereafter, but the thereafter probably never should have happened. They got the INT to end the game, but due to a technicality they deemed "possession" by Mond, play continued.

Because people were throwing flowers at his feet just last year and, in typical sunshine pumping form, they can't come to grips that they might have made a mistake.

Kind Regards,

Les Miles

Not his fault Giles muffed the punt and he has no control over the refs.

I wasn't a fan on Saturday if that makes you feel better. I was calling him 4th and chavis from about 10pm on. I love the exotic four man rushes but we needed to get the f out of prevent when so many new guys are in the game because of injuries, ejections, etc. We just need to get the f out of prevent in general. Why do the same things haunt this team no matter who the coaches are?
