That place is in great shape and could be made into a fully-functioning 90’s mall.
From everything I had ever heard it was overrun with thugs and run down. Seems not to be the case.
Revival List:
Suncoast
Sam Goody
KB Toys
A GIANT old school arcade
Sears
Service Merchandise
Mervyns
Blockbuster
Who wants to add?
Spencer’s
Taco Bell
Dairy Queen

Everything closed.... so they walk from shoe store to shoe store to shoe store to “fashion accessory” store to shoe store to gold chain middle eastern kiosk down at the mall of Louisiana now

I have fond memories of a bakery there in the late '80s where I would buy a slice of homemade bread for a walking around snack. don't recall the name of the place though

That's one thing I never thought I'd live to see - the demise of shopping malls. Sad. I can remember once upon a time going Christmas shopping at Cortana and having to drive around waiting for someone to pull out because there was literally no parking spaces available. People would be parking illegally on the grass and shite.

That was just fricking eerie.

Same in Nashville. Metro center, Bellevue mail, 100 oaks, hickory hollow.. All torn down/repurposed or empty.
Then there's opry Mills where you can't find a parking spot and green hills and galleria in Cool springs.. All 'A' malls that seem to be doing ok but there are definitely signs of trouble for those as well.
After Christmas the last couple of years you'd see 5-10 stores close up almost overnight and you can almost sense the panic as the malls quickly found new businesses to take their place.
Seems like once a mall loses a certain % of A grade stores they move into an unrecoverable death spiral.

Mall of Louisiana after 5 pm looks more like mall city. Herds of kids walking around with pants sagging so low you can see their arse crack, being loud and rude and daring somebody to confront them. This chased away the customers who would actually be at the mall to buy something rather than just walk around and be loud.
The owners should have put the stop to this years ago.

It will be the new home for the NBR Grocery store even though a Wal-Mart supercenter is across the street.
In reality they will rent out a $1.5 million dollar kiosk in the middle of the mall and have a few fruits and vegetables. It will be tucked in the middle of the mall near the old food court. It will be open only on Mondays from 9am to 10 am. They will have 25 to 50 employees running it wink wink no federal dollars wasted here.
Wink wink “The BR cronies will be working on more federal funding to keep it open more than 1 hr a day 1 day a week.”

I went to Lakeside in Metairie the other day. It was pretty crowded and didn't seem to have a bunch offices of trashy people. Why has Lakeside been able to buck the trend?
Lakeside is thriving. It’s amazing really. New stores still opening, and the highest performing dillard’s in the country

No competition?
Cortana has to contend with Mall of LA. Any other malls in New Orleans area providing competition?

I still go to the clearance Dillards once a year for the Veterans day sale. Spend 200 bucks and you will walk out with a sweet wardrobe.

They were annoying as hell.
Cortana was the shite in the 80s and early 90s.
