Pretty cool item given to me by my g'pa. He supposedly received it from a German officer after the war ended. I never tried to verify the story or the authenticity but it's a cool item imo, especially the truck nuts.

Hope you never plan on running for office BAW

Not worth much unfortunately. I’ll take it off your hands for 3.50

You carry that when you go to NBR?

Can I get a fricking trigger warning for that swastika?

should've followed Ben Franklin and used the turkey

Ben Franklin wanted the turkey as national bird, but that was not agreed upon

It would be kinda weird to have a holiday where you’re supposed to eat the national mascot.

Yep, the founding fathers called up the Nazis 200 years in the future and said "hey, were stealing your eagle idea, fight us for it in 200 years!" This is how WWII started you know.

That's a Luftwaffe dress dagger. Take off the scabbard and check the base of the blade for a maker mark.
They do make fakes of these but based on the pictures alone it looks authentic. Coupled with your grandpaw's story it sounds like you have a real piece.

Where would the mark be?

My FIL has a similar sword he got from his dad. Supposedly took it off a train that had a bunch of Nazi things in it.
His had 3 tassels, they were really dry-rotted. I was looking at it once and one ripped off. I hid it and put the sword back before he could notice. This was like 5 years ago. Still don't know if he ever found out

I have what I guess would be called a utility knife. The blade is about a foot long, it has a flat tip like a screwdriver, and one side has a sawtooth edge. I've never been able to find anything about it online. Someone suggested it might be a search and rescue type tool for a civil defense unit. A relative brought it back from WWII.

It looks good, but I don’t know a lot about nazi swords. I have a buddy who knows everything about these. Let me give him a call.

You don't need to pull the scabbard all the way off but it should be on the reverse side of the blade right at the base.
