Speaking of Cajuns

Anything on that?

God forbid you say that on other McNeese boards and facebooks pages. The blue hairs will jump down your throat demanding you go to QB club meetings and donate if i wanted a higher paid coach as if my measly donation would make a difference.
Oh, so you are familiar with Doc and his band of sunshine pumpers on the Geaux Cowboys page, huh? Lol!
Those guys make me irrationally mad sometimes. They have a lot of nerve telling people they don't have the right to complain if they don't go to meetings.

Yep. It’s one reason I don’t post on their page. You criticize one time, they’ll all gang up on you for not being a part of said club. You don’t donate?? Then you have no right to criticize McNeese football.
After the Lamar loss, he posted something along the lines of “Ill let you all get out everything you need but Monday I’m going to shut off all those comments!”

Yeah, I remember that. Made me seriously consider making a new page. That is frickin ridiculous.
Nothing will ever change at McNeese as long as the attitude prevails. And they wonder why less than 11k people actually give a shite to make it out to Cowboy Stadium 5 or 6 times each fall.

oh man. reading that now
wow
*ETA: i don't have any ill feelings towards MSU. the big issue is that they are the littest of little brothers and their national spotlight dimmed as LSU's began to shine (early 00s). on top of that, ULL made a major investment and all those TX schools showed up. now SELU and Nicholls are emerging themselves. it's jut a bad hand

Yep. When McNeese was dominating, ULL was trash, SELU and Lamar werent around so McNeese got most of their players from the SE TX area around Beaumont.
As soon as they starting splitting players with those schools the talent went down. Go back and look at some of the talent they had on the mid/late 90s and early 2000s teams. They had 1-2 guys that would make NFL rosters every year

yeah and the gambling/darrell's situation really caused the money to pull back until it got under control
like i said (and i confirmed it this morning reading that FB page), the people in power who legit support MSU football want a clean program with good character guys on the team.
no money
no cheating
only good character
losing your recruiting ground
means their future is relatively dim

That message board group is a joke. It’s a bunch of “ get em next time boys” and “we love Guidry because he’s one of us”
Good god what a joke. They are happy with a lunch pail and participation trophy
Wake up

The Cajuns don’t use any money from the General Fund. Go ahead a look at the last audit. Proof is in the pudding.
How would you describe $11,552,190 in "direct institutional support" in Statement A, Page 12, in the attached report?

Auxiliary funds provided by self generated revenue. Parking garages, and other university generated revenue.
No tax payer dollars.

Self generated funds. Unlike all the other state schools which takes from Academics to pay for athletics.

I remember 2-3 years ago, I was complaining on the board about the fact that McNeese didn’t recruit anyone outside of Louisiana or Texas. All the while, every school in the country (even Div-II schools) would have kids from out of state on their roster.
With 247, Hudl, you name it, there’s no reason for them to find kids from Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, you name it. There’s numerous outlets where these guys could find recruits. Just be regional. Not just Louisiana and SE Texas.
Anyone want to guess the response I got whenever I brought it up?
You guesses it. “If you think the coaches could go farther, maybe you should donate and pay their gas mileage.”
My point wasn’t even to take a road trip and blindly recruit a kid. Start with an email. Gauge interest on the phone. Then you go and figure out a way to get your guys over there. Its been a couple years since that’s happened and now we have since landed 4-5 kids from Florida. A couple Northwestern kids, no less. Hopefully, whomever they hire understands that recruiting exists outside Louisiana and SE Texas. At least Guidry recruited Dallas and San Antonio also

you're using an accounting trick to try and puff your chest out and it's kind of sad

One is self generated and one is from gov provided funds.
Posted on 11/25/18 at 4:52 pm to chew4219
and if the "government provided funds" went to athletics, that "Self generated funding" would go fill in that void. it's the same thing
if it's not generated from the AD directly, it's from the general fund. that's the only distinction that matters
