zero percent chance. If you really cared about him, you'd beg him to go. Life changing money for him and his family (and that's with only the signing bonus). Can't risk all of that with another year in college.
Worked out really terrible for Tre White
Devin isn't some poor kid from some dysfunctional hood. He's a country boy.

I'd find it hard to believe that he is unaware of where he would be picked Everyone that follows football at all knows he's a top 10 pick and either the first or second LB off the board To think that he is unaware of this would be silly
I don’t think he is unaware, it just hasn’t hit home yet.

He isn't trolling. He's seriously considering coming back. He's 100% serious.

But the risk is too high, especially when he's projected to be a top 5-10 pick. There's virtually no upside, financially at least.
Even if his family isn't poor, this is still life-changing money, and it would be foolish to not grab it now.

The probability of him having some career ending injury is almost 0
There is little to no risk involved at all
He'll still have life changing money, just a year later

You don’t actually believe this do you? No risk passing up going in the top ten of the nfl draft? He would be crazy. I would love to have him back but he should go if he’s a top ten pick.

Generally speaking if you're a 1st round lock you take the money. White seems like a 1st round lock.
HOWEVER, if he chooses to come back, I certainly wont fault him for it. We need some guys like that.
I know some compare that to what Tre'davious White did, but White was nowhere near a 1st rounder after his junior year. Remember, he struggled MIGHTILY his junior year and his NFL stock was mid-rounds at best. It's honestly hard to go back and remember a bonafide 1st rounder we had as as a junior come back for their senior year.
La'el Collins, Beckwith, White and Pocic are the only somewhat close examples I can think of, but dont think any were projected 1st rounders after their junior campaigns.

Not to mention at Bama he could smoke dope without repurcussions if he so inclined. And could carry a stolen weapon too. Lsu is too hard !
Don't forget the Charger Leases are 4 years as well.

He'd be out of his mf'ing mind! Devin if you are reading this please go get paid. I'll lose all respect for you if you come back and get paid like a freaking slave while LSU and the coaches make your money. If you are even considering returning, please check yourself into a mental health facility because you are in dire need of help. There is a very good likelihood all those head shots have made you insane.

I get that he is a 1st round draft pick, but it’s within the realm of possibility that being a part of something great at LSU and beating Bama is more if a dream to him than making money now. I think in his mind, he’s going to get paid- the question is whether he wants to get paid now or later.
Also, something to think about: in the NFL, he will have more parity and similar talent to compete against. He will be one talent of many. If he stays at LSU, he gets to hear “one of the greatest linebackers in college football” for another year. There’s a lot of glory in that.

Cite an example of someone staying their senior year and having a career ending injury. How many times has it happened? Once? Twice?

Oh and the people on here saying it's "Devin's choice", "money doesn't drive everyone", not a bad idea", 'I'd love for him to return". You are either of the following:
1. Stupid
2. Insane
3. FOS
4. Don't care about the kid only LSU
5. All of the above

He's one of the few top picks I could see staying. While I certainly wouldn't begrudge him if he left and it's probably the "smart" thing to do, if he wants to play his senior year and maybe have a shot at the playoffs then hats off to him.

But once the predraft process starts and he finds out how early he would be picked, how much money he could make, etc then he will definitely go.
You don't think he knows all that stuff now?

Or maybe, we think he should do whatever the hell is important to him. Sure, we’d be ecstatic if he came back but we’d be excited if he goes pro. In fact, when guys go pro, it’s good for LSU because that’s what continues to draw elite talent. It’s not a zero sum game.

I agree it would be awesome. But when I see thus stuff I always think back to one of my favorite offensive lineman, ben wilkerson and what happened to him.
If you are a possible low 1st round pick and think you can up your stock plus get a great insurance policy maybe come back.
If you are a sure fire top 10 draft pick. I really hope he goes pro. I hate seeing guys go down..
On the flip side how do you get the low 1st round talents and mid round talents to stay? Someone has to start a trend and set the example. If he comes back lsu better put him up with a huge policy and he needs to go into debt and buy himself a policy on top of it, maybe use the lsu policy to justify it or something.. that's what I'd attempt to do, if i came back as a projected top 10 draft pick

But you are intelligent enough to know what another person should do with their life? Maybe he doesn't have the same values as you. Maybe you have no idea what he thinks. They should rename this board Idiot Smartass because that is all that is here.

One of my favorite defensive players of all time at LSU. Selfishly I would want you to play another year but you were born to play football in the NFL. Go get paid. Looking forward to seeing you on the LSU sidelines supporting all the up and coming future NFL greats!

I do think there's a difference between saying you're coming back now and then actually seeing your draft grade and turning down the money to come back. The closer you get to the deadline, the more real it is.
That said, good for Devin. He can't make a wrong choice, honestly. If he goes pro, he'll make millions and he deserves it. If he stays, he'll have another great year and make millions next year. I don't think, say, the Clemson d-linemen regret coming back for their senior years. There's something to be said for one last year of playing for your school before it becomes, officially, a business.
White is lucky enough to be so good and so grounded that he can make whatever decision he wants to. Whatever he does, it will be the right decision.
