Finally getting a new TV for Black Friday. what do you guys think is the better buy? I watch Netflix, sports, a few TV shows and play a little Xbox from time to time. So, in essence mixed use. I’d say the room is moderately bright in the afternoon.

I have it narrowed to these 3 in 55”. I showed the wife the dimensions of the 65” and I kinda got “that” look... so, I decided not to push it to the 65”. The 55” will cover the area well and the jump will be significant from what we have currently.
I’m a little worried about the burn in I’ve read about on the OLED and have been apprehensive about Samsung products, but both seem to get pretty good reviews.

Anyways.... suggestions?

I have the 65C8 and it’s the best image I’ve ever had in my house by far. Burn in shouldn’t occur unless someone is stupid with the use of the tv.

How far away are you from the TV? Might want to reconsider going back to 65".

I did the Sony A1E in 55”...I tend to like all Sony panels, even the ones that aren’t OLED.

First and foremost, is it a bright or dark room?

Bright room= LED
Dark room=OLED

I PERSONALLY love my 75” 900F in my Bright room.

I’m about 11.5’ or so from the TV. Which I assume says get the 65”, but again... trying to keep the wife happy too. I currently have an 8-10 yr old LG which I think is 42”. So, literally anything I get is going to be a significant step up size wise.

If it was in the budget I’d probably get the Sony OLED, but it’s not. My room is moderately bright, so I’m not sure the OLEDs would be a problem since they seem to have better reflection properties on their panels. I think I’m leaning towards the Q8F or 900F though which will be $1499 and $1199 respectively for the 55”. Although, that 65” 900F is tempting at $1799...

Get the 65"

At first she will be like, damn this is huge! A week later she will be like, this is really nice. A month later she will be like, we shoulda gone bigger.

My TV is 12' from my main viewing point and I wish I had gone bigger.

go to greentoe.com and name a price you are willing to pay. Many times they will agree.

It's like priceline for electronics. I got my 75" off Greentoe bay in May for $2858, which was less than anywhere listed online by a wide margin. Greentoe only partners with authorized dealers so it comes will full warranty.

good to know....as I am looking for a TV and I have a really bright room. My current plasma is like a mirror in the middle of the day.

I’ve looked at rtings a good bit the last couple weeks and avs forum... I think rtings has the LG OLED rated as having better anti-glare properties on their screen. Which is not what I was thinking.... but they also say the brightness changes on the screen depending on the scene which is one of the reasons it isn’t as good in bright rooms as the others.

I wouldn't be. I have two Samsung Tvs in my house that are both great. One is an older (8sh yrs) model that still looks good. I also have a big sony in my living room that came with the house we bought 3 yrs ago. Don't know how old, but definitely isn't new. Still has a good picture compared to tvs I see in stores.

I wouldn't hesitate to get Samsung or Sony again.

I used to have a Panasonic Plasma which I LOVED at night time but it SUCKED during the day. My LED is much nicer for day time. OLED will have a better picture at night than an LED but it will not be as good during the day.

Yup, my wife almost convinced herself we should have gone up to 75".

Just judging on brands alone: Sony is top rated for quality and picture but you'll pay a third above the rest. LG and Samsung are about even - go with the price there. Vizio: I never liked their power supplies, as they tend to fail just after the warranty expires. Figure an extended warranty into the Vizio line.

I've got a 65" OLED in a room with Bay windows. I wouldn't trade it.

And almost are rooms can be made dark during evening hours pretty easily

Stopped in Best Buy to look at them first hand... it’s either going to be the 900F or Q8F. I think the Q8F may be the better all around. But, that 900F seemed to handle motion better. At least to my eyes...
Ol boy said either or are great TVs. Just have to pull the trigger, probably 60-40 900F-Q8F

I would pick the Q8F, but both are good choices
