I’m ok with the extension. I’m never in favor of never having your head coach in a lame duck year.

But for the love of god make sure it’s a contract that’s easy to get out of if you have to.

He's under contract for 2 more years, and absolutely NOBODY is interested in hiring him away from us. Why in God's name does he deserve an extension?

If we finish the regular season 10-2 and win the bowl game, then I'm ok with giving him a bonus, but in no way should his contract be extended.

This would demonstrate utter incompetence on the part of LSU's administration.

The lame duck year isn’t until 2021.

I wouldn't put it past Alleva to fear USC will fire Helton and come after Orgeron.

And considering USC's hires over the last decade, they might be dumb enough to do it.

I’m an idiot. I thought he was originally only signed for 3 years for some reason. Yeah I take back what I said, there’s no reason to extend him now.

I am so done with LSU's corrupt and incompetent leadership. So, averaging 8 to 9 wins a season with absolutely no shot at a championship is all it takes to get a long-term contract at LSU now?

They can fake extend him if they want. Ie no new guaranteed money or buyout.

Other than that, LSU fans will stop going to games at a decent clip.

O is a shitty coach and just like with Caldwell, Alleva’s going to do evrything to try and save his shitty hire to keep himself around.

Absolutely, it would be as simple as not having a TE coach as OC who doesn’t even want the job. I don’t know why this is all so complicated for you all.

That would still not help you doing better than O is right now.... You have ZERO clue...

Orgeron and Ensminger apparently have no clue either, and they’re getting paid millions.

Sounds like LSU is going to waste some money in a few years.

Have to lock him up so another school doesn’t swoop in and steal him away

Need to up that buyout also

Do you agree with this move? You seem to be with the power brokers, so why would we jump to extend a coach not yet in demand nationally. I would prefer to wait another another year and see how recruiting goes this year and see if he maintains this momentum next year (last night excluded of course)

I'm not against an extension for recruiting purposes but there needs to be either no buyout or at least a minimal one

What’s his possible leverage for negotiating a buyout?

Extension for what?
7-2 against the toughest schedule in the country to date. He has exceeded expectations. Contract extension is a no-brainer.

Why give him an extension when literally no other school is after him....????? Wait until he’s a hot commodity (if ever) until we lock ourselves down with this guy. How stupid.

it’s a no brainer that giving him an extension is the worst possible thing LSU could do.
