How many people are stuck in bad timeshare deals? How much are you paying?

Considering the amount timeshare exit commercials there must be a lot of idiots stuck with them.
Exit for $0 I guess you are just giving it away

No, but I did get a pretty good beach vacation at low cost to listen to a 2 hour presentation a few years ago. If you don't have a problem saying "no" to a salesman it's a money saver.

They're often sold as investments where you can make money, which of course is not true.
My SO and I own one. We recognize it as a way to get better accommodations when we visit a place (instead of being cramped in a hotel room we get what amounts to a fully-furnished apartment).

ALL timeshares are bad, bad deals.

I am sure there are other towns around the world but Cabo seems like the mecca for timeshare salesmen...they are all there. Can't even leave the damn airport without walking through a pitch room

My F-i-L has a few. Most, if not all, were purchased on the resale market for about 40% original sale price. By paying the lower prices, the finances make sense on paper. But I don’t understand why for minimal saving vs a similar level vacation would a person want to lock themselves into going to the same place every year.

I know a dude that was making 20k plus a month selling in house for wyndham in nola. There were a few doing that. Most make nothing and leave pretty fast. The great sales guy make serious bucks.

With AirBnB available, why would anyone be dumb enough to still have a timeshare or consider buying one?

Same for airport in Cancun. You have to walk the gauntlet of timeshare companies to get to the exit.

I have an Aunt through marriage who is paying 20k a year for wyndam.
Even at that level in order to stay at the timeshares they have to listen to a spiel in the morning about giving them more money. Its such a bad deal

i get second hand information about it through my mom but apparently its a "tier" program for them. So they can go multiple times to any Wydham suites location with approval or something. They use it a lot for disney which they go like 2-3 times a year.
When i visted them up there we stayed in one which was basically just like a crappy Air Bnb

That is still crazy though. 20k a year...not including airfare and rental car.

Do you get out of timeshares if you die? If not, if I was the children of your Aunt...I would be working on getting rid of that timeshare. Imagine inheriting that nightmare.
