Hayride Article: Louisiana missing out on economic boom

I guess this shouldn’t shock me though as our state idolizes and diefies Huey P Long and Edwin Edwards.

Yeah a surplus after the largest tax increases TWICE in the history of Louisiana. There was a poster here giving carter credit for making the American people live within their means. Why can’t the Louisiana state government do so?

We're not voting for a Sunday school preacher man.

We're voting for someone who will manage our taxes and spending in a fiscally responsible way, stay out of the private sector's way, and cut as much red tape as he can.

People who call themselves conservative put someone in office who absolutely refuses to do any of that and that is indefensible.

At the end of the day, everything a politician does will always be the voters responsibility so yeah we're calling out republicans for JBE in abandoning their principles on how government should be run and losing all sense of pragmatism.

The article is completely without any substance at all. Louisiana’s economic position is not due to JBE. There are many factors and reasons but the Hayride is a hack site and that article doesn’t even attempt a rational discussion.

Well, he certainly sure as shite isn't helping either.

And on another note, Louisiana has run up the largest spending levels under him and we have nothing to show for it besides more brain drain and economic slow down.

He has to go.

Some facts

JBE took over and he faced s deficit

Two ways to go. Cut spending or raise taxes.

JBE decided to keep the status quo and keep spending high. He funded all the pork; movies, nursing homes, etc. He raised taxes.

A 1.2 Billion dollar tax increase plus Medicaid expansion.

Yes he decided to take 1.2 Billion from La. Folk in order to fund the pork at a time when La. was in recession. Think about that. The govt. took from the citizens to fund their friends from folks like you and me.

The rest is history. La. crawled ahead and selected groups prospered with state helped.

There is no plan to grow the economy. Traveling to Cuba and Israel isn't going to help. Not when you continue to tax and spend.

Huey P Long wouldn't be considered a hero if the Louisiana elite actually cared about the economic well being of poor whites during that era. Even if it was out personal gain, Long at least made improvements that benefited the poor.

You guys scream about Capitalism, but the fact is no political party wants to address gaining more companies to move to the state. I personally think its because secretly certain factions want the state to be below the curve so that small businesses can coerce people who have few options.

Louisiana will always miss out on economic booms that arent accompanied by high oil prices. Its nothing new.

Then when theres a depression we will brag about not falling as much.

Way to completely ignore the trade war putting a damper on the shipping industry and agriculture/chemical exports. We'd be in much worse shape if education and healthcare had been slashed.

Said article quotes OFFICIAL figures released by the US Department of Labor. The same figures that show Louisiana having the second highest unemployment rate in the Continental US...and 4th lowest overall if you include Washington D.C. and Alaska. But, I'm sure that you know more about these things than the US Department of Labor, right?

Yet you, douche boy, refute nothing specifically that the article raises and provide no actual counterpoints. You truly are a democrat with that weak arse “response”

He sure put the breaks on a lot of plant expansion projects from the company I work for. Oh well, Texas should be happy.
