He's looking for a monster contract, and it will further limit your options to build/maintain a roster, make summer trades, etc.
The big deal would also raise eyebrows of the other core players who will want to get paid. Would even Tuve regret signing his team friendly-ish deal?
There are also questions - fair or not - about his fit as a personality in a clubhouse.

This is my real drawback.
-injured
-really hot/cold performances
-might be an odd chemistry fit
-agent wants an obscenely large contract
-would set the bar really high for the current guys on the team when their contracts come due
If Boras wasnt such a piece of shite requesting a laughably large contract, I'd like to get involved in discussions to see what exactly Bryce wants outside of just money.

I’m curious why we haven’t been linked to Murphy to DH. We need left handed bat can hit to all fields and can play in the field if needed and not pushing 40 like nelly (who I’d still be good with getting)

Trade Tucker and friends for Corey Kluber. Change my mind.
Kluber has 1 guaranteed year remaining and 2 club options...
2019 age 33: $17,000,000
2020 age 34: $17,500,000 club option; $1 million buy out
2021 age 35: $18,000,000 club option; $1 million buyout

Thats an absolutely incredible contract and the indians need young controllable outfielders.......
I kinda want to see us trade for Tyler just for the tweets

TBaw would run to Strom so fast for the "special cheating stuff" too.

Indians trade Corey Kluber to the Astros for Kyle Tucker, Josh James and Freudis Nova. Who says no?
Posted on 12/6/18 at 3:35 pm to Lsuhoohoo
Would personally rather trade Bukake than JAMES.

I would pass on that trade for Houston.

100% agree. If we get a decent OF in free agency, I would be just fine with trading Tucker for Kluber.

I don’t like including James, but the more I’ve thought about things, the less I’m opposed to selling high on Tucker.

From Taggart
quote:
Astros GM Jeff Luhnow, when asked if the team could bring in another catcher, said it remains to be seen, but added: "We certainly feel good about going into the season with Stassi and Chirinos as our catchers."
quote:
When asked what’s on the Astros’ front burner, Luhnow said starting pitcher, “maybe adding an arm to the bullpen potentially and another bat for the lineup.”
quote:
Luhnow wouldn't say if the Astros were in on Goldschmidt or Eovaldi, but said: "We have been involved in conversations with players that have signed or been traded."

Saw where STL is exploring trading Jose Martinez after the Goldy acquisition
He’s pretty awful defensively but would be an interesting DH
Career .309/.372/.478 130 wRC+, 4 years of cheapish control
ETA: I still want Castellanos. He could be the first player to ever be crowned before joining the Astros organization...

I want Votto. I don't want Votto's contract.
He's 34 years old and has 5 years $125 million remaining plus a $20 million option or a $7 million buyout.
If he had like 1 or 2 years remaining on his deal, get that man an Astros coat. He'd be perfect.

Votto is Italian for Harper.

A front office member of Luis Valbuena's Venezuelan winter ball team confirmed the former Astros third baseman was killed in a car accident in Venezuela on Thursday.
Valbuena was 33
