Mark Richt and Kirby Smart have the exact same record right now as Georgia coaches. Both lost to LSU their second season.

Mark Richt lost to LSU in '03, his third year at Georgia. (Let's not talk about '04)

This is Kirby’s third year as well and he lost to LSU.

Simply telling us that Kirby is nothing special

I’ve been saying this since his first year bit even LSU fans are peeing themselves over him.

Richt coaches UGA for 15 years and has 145 wins so no they don’t, if you mean after 2.5 seasons maybe

Richt 2nd season was 2002, they didn’t play LSU

When you play in the national championship in your 2nd year coaching and go toe to toe with Bama in the NC game, you're a hell of a lot more special than most coaches out there. We did whip his arse though and he was outcoached by O and company. The fake field goal on 4th and 9 on the road was especially stupid.

The diff between Kirby and Richt is Kirby is keeping in state recruits at home. The state of Georgia has a frick load of talent every year. They will be stacked with depth like Bama soon

Nearly won a national championship last year. It was pretty special.

Yeah Kirby went to PLAY for a National Championship in his second year.
Richt was never able to get over the hump. I would say as of right now Kirby is better. Plus he is keeping the in state talent home. Also something Richt could never do.

Ha...I can, but Chizik had possibly the most destructive college force ever in Cam Newton. Kirby did not.
Larry Coker played for and won the NC in his first year. However, he also inherited possibly the most talented team ever.

I think Richt is a better head coach than Kirby, and proof will be that Kirby won't have the longevity at Georgia that Richt had.
In the 2011 SECC game, Georgia was very close to opening up a can of whoop arse on one of the best LSU teams ever in the 1st half. Any LSU fan that was in that stadium and tells you they weren't sweating at halftime is lying.

They both won the SEC in their second year and recruited well early in their early tenure.
Given Richt's Bowden lineage and Smart's Saban lineage I would give the edge to Smart.
Richt was no slouch as a head coach. His '02, '07 and '12 teams would have all qualified for the CFP and were good enough to win it. He had become stale at UGa.
